CJ Shearn Posted May 10, 2005 Report Posted May 10, 2005 wow, what a range. The local jazz station needs to get a hold of this, they have sort of boring stuff all the time. Quote

Guest Chaney Posted May 10, 2005 Report Posted May 10, 2005 Interesting voice; has a bit of that Eartha Kitt earthiness and sass about it. Listening to the sound samples, anyone else find her range to be, at times, creepy? In kind of Linda Blair / Mercedes Macambridge I'M POSSESSED! kind of way? (Thinking of when Ms. Theodore hits the lower octaves.) Nice find. Quote

Big Wheel Posted May 11, 2005 Report Posted May 11, 2005 I love the Bill Stewart quote in the blurb: "Accompanying John Barstow is a unique challenge and one that I welcome." Quote
Big Wheel Posted May 11, 2005 Report Posted May 11, 2005 BTW, if WHRB ever decides to run a Bill Stewart or Larry Goldings orgy (in which they try to play the artist's complete works, if possible), you can bet that I'll be sending them a copy of this one... Quote

Brad Posted May 11, 2005 Report Posted May 11, 2005 I agree with Evan; she's a find and what a voice. Her range as she moves up and down the register is pretty amazing. I have to get this too. Quote
WD45 Posted May 11, 2005 Report Posted May 11, 2005 Been working on my own astounding discovery: http://cdbaby.com/cd/bowtiebarstow That is some discovery. It is as if Jandek sang standards. Quote

I see what you mean about a bit creepy, like on I’m In The Mood For Love, but on the other sides were it is a bit more subtle, very nice indeed! Good find Evan!!! Quote
