AllenLowe Posted May 11, 2005 Report Posted May 11, 2005 I was thinking of the two-fer - since Wingy only had one arm - as a matter of fact, he was the inspiration for the old Fugitive television series - Quote
ghost of miles Posted January 26, 2018 Report Posted January 26, 2018 (edited) Listening to the ASV Charleston Chasers compilation has finally spurred me to order the first two Jazz Oracle sets of Nichols’ Brunswick recordings. Anybody else have any or all three of them? Iirc this was originally intended as a Mosaic set, and then Mosaic passed along the remasterings and Dick Sudhalter’s notes to Jazz Oracle? jeffcrom Posted January 27, 2018 Report Posted January 27, 2018 I have the first Jazz Oracle 3-disc set. I don't listen to it as much as I expected to. Including groups like the Charleston Chasers, the Arkansas Travelers, Red and Miff's Stompers, The Captivators, etc. in addition the Five Pennies. I have about two hours of Red Nichols 78s, and listen to those fairly often, a few at a time. That's no help to most folks, of course. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted January 27, 2018 Report Posted January 27, 2018 Mosaic had intended a 7 cd set and that concept has been expanded to 9 discs by Jazz Oracle. Do not ignore the Jazz Oracle disc of the Louisiana Rhythm Kings. Quote
