kh1958 Posted January 10, 2016 Author Report Posted January 10, 2016 (edited) At over 300 miles from Dallas to Victoria, that probably exceeds my Marilyn Crispel driving range. Starting from Austin, Houston or San Antonio to Victoria, I would probably go. However, I may go see Charles Lloyd in San Antonio in February. Edited January 10, 2016 by kh1958 Quote
Steve Reynolds Posted January 12, 2016 Report Posted January 12, 2016 Victoria is close to Point Comfort, TX - the very small town that is the home to the largest Manufacturing plant of the company I work for. I visit ~ once a year. The idea and reality that Marilyn Crispell is playing in Victoria, TX is pretty mind boggling. Quote
kh1958 Posted January 12, 2016 Author Report Posted January 12, 2016 Welcome to Texas! Don't forget your holster. I have seen Marilyn Crispell live once--a number of years ago at the original Knitting Factory--in the Anthony Braxton Quartet. Quote

Dude, you work for ALCOA? http://www.alcoa.com/locations/usa_point_comfort/en/info_page/home.asp Aluminum has been a central part of my life for as long as I've had it, so I appreciate your product. As for Victoria, it's an "oil money" town and has its "cultural" element that stems from that. I've played they symphony's debutante ball there more than once. But that does not explain Marilyn Crispell performing there! I'm tempted to go just to see who wins that one. Quote
Steve Reynolds Posted January 12, 2016 Report Posted January 12, 2016 I work for Formosa Plastics Corporation, U.S.A. right across the street from the Alcoa plant. Not sure which plant is larger, but I think with all the expansions which continue, the Formosa plant is now one of the larger chemical operations in the country. The portion I'm associated with (PVC production) is large on a relative scale to other PVC plants but tiny relative to all the other various production plants within the enormous petrochemical complex. ps - with Vinyl records making a relative comeback, I sometimes feel guilty I own no turntable or any vinyl records Quote
JSngry Posted January 12, 2016 Report Posted January 12, 2016 PVC has made my life all kinds of easier in all kinds of ways, so I still appreciate your product! Quote
