CD Universe

I have bought a lot of cds from this retailer. Recently, I bought several 2-cd sets in a series. When I opened the first, it was not like the others: it had been resealed with saran wrap material vs a tougher cellophane like material used on the other sets, it had a big crack on the front of the jewel case, and the cd case opened right to left not left to right like the others in the set. I called CD Universe and told them I wanted a new version, and that I didn't care for being sold a used set. The response: we can't ship a new set until you return the bad one ( that will not happen)and no apology. Lucky for me, there are other music retailers, and I don't need to put up with this kind of misbehavior. Business must be booming up in Wallingford.

CDU has always been pretty great. They even have a cracked jewel case policy unlike the BASTARDS who could give shits about how they pack stuff. I don't think any retailer in their right mind is going to let you keep a disc and demand a new one until they either get the damaged goods or charge you to send a new set and then credit the damaged set on upon its return?

FWIW CDU sent out a blanket porno mailing a year or so ago to all comers by mistake. All sorts of great stuff popped up in the mail content window. I bitched like some right wing puritan and got a nice twenty dollar credit just for bringing it to their attention. Can't say what I bought w/ that credit. :g

1. The big issue for me is that they sold used goods as new-substituted a whole new jewel case and crappy saran wrap. Still have not received an apology and have abandoned that expectation.

2. CDU has agreed to send me a new cd and a prepaid mailer to return the used, damaged goods. That is a good result, but I must say they shot a big wad of goodwill with this chicanery. If I want a used cd, I will go to another place and pay a used cd price.

An unconditional apology should have been immediately offered, no doubt. But other than that, it sounds like they're trying to do the right thing.

As for how any of the bad stuff happened, hey, shit happens. Might've been a new employee who fucked up, or somebody who carelessly filled your order while being distracted by something else. Who knows? For that, they should apologize. But if it was me, I'd accept their offer, consider this one episode in light of past performance, and move on.

Now, if it ever happens again... :rmad::rmad::rmad::rmad::rmad:

there is "evidently" an Adult Video Universe. the mail went to all customers who had an e-mail new release subscription rather than just those who were looking for a variant on the "release".

I was peeved at Red Trumpet for sending me a mini-lp that was obviously used w/numerous small scratches but they quickly sent a replacement in good order and apologized profusely. You should at least get an apology. Damn, now I'm wondering about that sealed McLean 'Fickle' TOCJ that's sittin' over there with that faux saran wrap. God, I hope there isn't a Fred Astaire sing-a-long disc inside.

I must have 50 to 60 broken cases from CD universe

many of them the digi-packs which is a bitch, this has been

the only bad experience I have had with them

one time the screwed up my store credit

but they apologized and made it right very quickly

I've only had positive experiences with them. When I received a damaged Dexter cd set last year and wrote to them about it, they asked that I return it with an explanation and a new one was on its way shortly thereafter.

Speaking of re-wrapped discs....moments ago (after waiting 3+ weeks) I received, from eBay seller 'LUXONDA,' this old domestic version of Miles 'Blackhawk', Vol. 2 with neato orange 'Used' sticker. Only problem is that I (supposedly) won both SACD volumes that were advertised as 'New'. Well thank goodness the jewel case isn't cracked or I'd

lose it!!

Shame on me for not paying closer attention to this idiot's feedback.

Well, this cd is most likely used, but I have seen cds, videos and dvds with used stickers on them even with 3 unbroken seals on their cases (3 on a dvd at least)

And what about cds from overseas??? Many "new" ones come in that cheap wrap...I have heard that many are shipped without being wrapped...doesn't make a lot of sense, but I have bought many cds this way that were clearly untouched.

No Shit on the PayPal strong-arm.

I sold something and was hit with a "non received" refund complaint that scooped the funds right out of my account. The guy took three weeks to pay and finally when he did I was away. Rookie went on complaint mode w/o contacting me. He even left "positive feedback" on eBay after receiving the item. I had to escalate my complaint to the highest ups at PayPal and went in with anger management mode aside. They finally saw it my way and put the money back into my account - he got to keep his refund too boot!

PayPal is great for the buyer but sellers now must be able to track and prove everything with the new system. B@$t@rD$

LUXONDA is bad news. I bid and won an auction from him several weeks ago without checking his feedback first. His feedback is around 93 %. Needless to say, I'm still waiting....
