RudyC Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 Seeing that jelly roll morton, used to play this music to create the mood for others... i think i would be a valid disscusion to see how "jelly rolls" mood music has evolved and what it has turned into... What are your favorite albums to start off the night, or end it? Mine are Sketches Of Spain - Has NEVER failed to create a atmosphere.( and ever one i have told about it, i hove only heard of it not working once) Peace Beyond Passion - Me'Shell Ndegeocello (Not jazz, It's Urban) But in concert she is a killer bassist- all you groove hunters should check her stuff out, it has essence of rap( i say that with some hesitation SP?) unlike rap the drummer exists she plays bass its not a sound byte. Its just good shit!!! Anything by her is amazing Hope not to offend any one just was thinkin abotu it and wondering what else is out there Quote
Chrome Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 Stanley Turrentine + the Three Sounds: Blue Hour Various Chet Baker stuff (my wife isn't a huge jazz fan, but she's got a thing for ol' Chet) I've also got this multi disc import collection of Lester Young/Billie Holiday stuff ... one of the first times my wife and I, uh, you know, I had some Billie Holiday on.
