Jim R Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 There was an LP called "Fats Navarro Memorial" (Savoy MG 12011) released in 1955, three years before "Nostalgia". I don't recall at the moment if this came out on CD or not... Quote
JSngry Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 Find the 1977 Savoy/Arista Fat Girl double LP set (SJL 2216). It's complete (as far as I know), and has 4 as-of-then previously unissued alternates. Typically fine liner essay by Dan Morgenstern to boot. Overall, Arista (and later, Muse) did Savoy about as well as it's been done so far. Those LP facsimilies of a few years back are fun to look at, but woefully incomplete and/or disorganized a lot of the time, notably on the stuff that was origingally 78s. Quote
ghost of miles Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 Yeah, I have those facsimiles, and, agreed. What about the CD that Savoy put out several years ago--GOIN' TO MINTON'S? Was it "complete"? Probably not... Memorial I I think that this did come out on CD, and I might even have it, but I'm not sure... it's getting to "that" point with the collection. Quote
