Joshua Fought the Battle of Jericho 9. Ani Ma'amin 10. The Lord Will Make a Way Somehow -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Editorial Reviews Jewish Week "A brilliant piano-bass duo reading of tunes from the Jewish and African-American sacred traditions and easily the best record I've reviewed this year. Warm, intelligent and swinging..." Rabbi Herbert Brockman, Congregation Mishkan Israel, Hamden CT "Music from two different cultural experiences, one enhancing the other." Album Description The music on this album consists of a series of bass and piano duets of jazz interpretations of sacred music from the African-American and Jewish traditions. The title comes from a Passover song based upon the ancient Hebrew saying that means,"once we were slaves." This is, of course, appropriate since both the Jewish and African-American peoples were forged from slavery. Edited April 19, 2008 by Bright Moments Quote
Bright Moments Posted April 19, 2008 Author Report Posted April 19, 2008 happy passover one and all!! Quote
Guy Berger Posted April 19, 2008 Report Posted April 19, 2008 Chag sameach to those celebrating this holiday. For the first passover in 8 years, my trip to California to celebrate this holiday no longer includes a dramatic improvement in weather. Guy Quote
Alexander Posted April 21, 2008 Report Posted April 21, 2008 Passover is my favorite holiday. My dad uses a "Humanist Haggadah" that stresses history and tradition over religion. Plus he's a great cook. The lamb this year was to DIE for. Quote
Larry Kart Posted April 21, 2008 Report Posted April 21, 2008 One of the best religious holidays imaginable; almost the whole story wrapped up in one story. I suggest Shelly Manne's "My Son the Jazz Drummer" (Contemporary), reissued on OJC under another title ("Desert Sands"?) Quote
