NYC hotels

The three of us (2 adults, 1 child) are trying to go up to NYC for 4/30 and 5/1.

We're trying to find a resonably priced hotel. My two regulars are booked, and hotels.com only shows pricey options.

I may have to just get a list of 20-30 places on the web, and call each. Any other recommendations/tricks/preferred hotels? We'd rather be in Manhattan.

How about The Kitano at the corner of Park & E. 38th -- nice little jazz lounge on the 2nd floor for you to slip down to once the little one is in bed. Weekend rates aren't bad ($250).

try orbiz.com as well. I forget the other one I have used in the past.

I used to refuse to have anything to do with Orbiz cuz of pop-ups, but have had pop up blocker for awhile now, so I don't hate them anymore.

Oh, did a check of old emails, try hotwire.com that was the one I used last. Pretty good prices, but that was last year...

I always use www.quickbook.com.

It's an excellent site, and seems to have pretty low rates for New York hotels (relatively speaking), in all price ranges. Also, it is completely reliable in my experience.

I always see commercials for the Milford Plaza- I have no idea if it's any good or not since I live in NYC, but try them and see what rates they have.
