You might be already aware of this from discussion here, but the quality of this DVD is really poor, both picture and sound. If you can tolerate that, though, the music is great. I bought it with high hopes, but was very disappointed. Quote
JPF Posted April 18, 2005 Report Posted April 18, 2005 (edited) If you're referring to Blue Note Perfect Takes, the Rudy Van Gelder DVD, I was very pleased with it. It's Michael Cuscuna interviewing RVG about his career, his studio, etc. Be aware, the interview portion of the DVD is only about 30 minutes long. It has some extras - his bio, a history of Blue Note, Francis Wolff photographs and other things. With the included CD, the package is worth it, I think. Of course, I got it as a birthday present, so......... Edited April 18, 2005 by JPF Quote
Joe M Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 I want to know why they didn't do more with the DVD. It's not like the production values were too high! I'm sure there was a lot more material from the interview that could have been included. Quote
