doubleM Posted April 14, 2005 Report Posted April 14, 2005 (edited) As some of you know, I draw portraits of jazz musicians in graphite pencil. I'm starting to put together matted prints of these drawings to consign in stores in my area, not unlike the ones on my website (jazzdrawings.com, wonderfully put together by our very own AfricaBrass, or Jeff). I thought I'd offer up these same prints to all y'all at a discount, to earn some much needed cash, as well as to get an idea of which ones might do well in the stores. I'm also selling many of the originals, which are framed and matted. The original drawings of Lester Young, Erroll Garner, Mingus (w/ bass), and Monk have all already sold...though prints of these are available. You can get to the site by clicking on the "WWW" tab at the bottom of this post. The matted prints are $25 including shipping in the U.S., and at actual cost outside of the U.S.. PM or email me if you have any questions, or interest. I am always happy to hear ideas for future subjects, too. Thanks! Matt P.S. The "crispness" of the prints' appearance is best shown in the Blakey image on the website. The scans don't really do them justice. Edited April 14, 2005 by doubleM Quote
jazzkrow Posted April 14, 2005 Report Posted April 14, 2005 I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Matt's work-as I have his Cannonball print and it is STUNNING I have received many compliments from people who marvel at its accuracy. For a music room or as a gift, you can't go wrong... The website does not do justice to the quality of his work. And for not much more than the price of a cd... Quote
doubleM Posted April 15, 2005 Author Report Posted April 15, 2005 Thanks, Jeff! I just thought of another option to put out there. 1/$25, 2/$45 3/$60. Shipping still included. All colors of matting are available. Matt Quote
Bright Moments Posted April 15, 2005 Report Posted April 15, 2005 nice work matt! i'm looking forward to seeing your RRK!! Quote
scottb Posted April 15, 2005 Report Posted April 15, 2005 All I can say is WOW! Those are beautifully done. Quote
doubleM Posted April 15, 2005 Author Report Posted April 15, 2005 Thanks, guys. I really appreciate you taking a look. I'm knee deep in a drawing of Laetitia Casta right now, ...so I have to finish up with her and I'm thinking about working on one of either Chet, Hank Mobley, or Kenny D. I have a backlog in my mind of about at least a dozen that I want to do. RRK would be amazing, but drawing that many horns would be quite the work-out!!! Quote
doubleM Posted April 28, 2005 Author Report Posted April 28, 2005 Up again, and I'll knock $5 off of all orders by May 1. Thanks to all who inquired! Quote
Patrick Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 Hey Matt, nice drawings, may have to order a few. Could you tell me a little bit more about the dimensions of the images (maybe a little larger than what I saw on the website??), and frames? Thanks Quote
doubleM Posted April 28, 2005 Author Report Posted April 28, 2005 Thanks, Patrick. The image sizes are quite a bit bigger than they appear on the site. The largest ones are the Cannonball and the Bud Powell. The artwork on the Cannon is about 10" x 12", and the Bud is around 12" x 14". The rest of them pretty much appear on 8.5 x 11" sized paper, with variance of image size. Don Cherry is the smallest (just a head). If you want specific dimensions on any of them, let me know.
