jazzman4133 Posted April 10, 2005 Report Posted April 10, 2005 (edited) Just the other day I found a few cassettes that I recorded from LPs many years ago (either mine or possibly a friends) with no information, dates, tracks, musicians, etc., of a particular favorite of mine, the multi talented Don Elliott. One is "Don Elliot Plays Pal Joey" and the other is "Doubles In Jazz". I can find no info at all on the Pal Joey album and "Doubles In Jazz" appears to be an old Jazztone album (which may or may not have been taken from Vanguard) with an Elliot group on one side and a Sam Most group on the other side of the LP. Does anyone have these albums? Cover scan would really appreciated if you do. Details on tracks, musicians, etc. would also be appreciated. Thanks gang................................. Brownian Motion Posted April 11, 2005 Report Posted April 11, 2005 Jazztone occasionally leased material to issue. Is it possible that "Doubles in Jazz" is part of this date? http://half.ebay.com/cat/buy/prod.cgi?cpid...=1876&meta_id=2 Quote

Chuck Nessa Posted April 11, 2005 Report Posted April 11, 2005 Doubles in Jazz is the first side of a reissue (first on Vanguard, later on Jazztone) of a Vanguard 10" lp called Doubles In Brass, coupled with a Sam Most date on the other side. Quote
jazzman4133 Posted April 11, 2005 Author Report Posted April 11, 2005 Thanks to those who responded. Using Tom Lord I found out about the Elliot albums and the Jazztone/Vanguard release. This may take a few posts to get all the info in as the Lord stuff is jpg.s and not text. Quote

Michael Fitzgerald Posted April 11, 2005 Report Posted April 11, 2005 You *can* cut and paste single sessions from Lord in text format - are you using the latest CDROM? Mike Quote
jazzman4133 Posted April 14, 2005 Author Report Posted April 14, 2005 Thanks Mike but I have the first edition and you can not cut and paste from it. In fact even when you print you've got to print what's before and what's after in order to get the one you want. I spoke to Lord aobut this when it first came out and then later when the new edition came out he would not bring the price down so I get it this way and overcome the problem. Quote
