mikeb Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 Could someone(s) in O-land provide the track listings, recording dates and sidemen for the following two Johnny Hodges Verve LPs?: The Incomparable Pairing Of Blues And Johnny Hodges Blue Notes Are these both compilation albums, or regular dates? Thank you in advance! Quote
P.D. Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 I only have Blue Notes It is from three different sessions in 1966 Aug 15 Blue Notes Say it again Aug 19 I Can't Believe that You're in Love Broadwalk L.B. Blues oct 24 Rent Cuty Sometimes I'm Happy The Midnight sun will never set Sneakin' up on You there are slight changes in the band per date All these tracks have only appeared, it would seem, on this album. therefore it's not a comp to me Don't know the other album.. even the title seems "new" to me. ( Say it Again was included on a British MGM comp) Quote
mikeb Posted June 19, 2003 Author Report Posted June 19, 2003 (edited) Thanks P.D.! Of the two, I'm more interested in Blue Notes, anyway ... Are these tunes with a 'big' band? Thanks again! Oops, by the way, here is the AMG listing for The Incomparable ... -- it's listed as Verve VSPS-20, so it must be a comp. http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&u...l=A4u61mpnd9f1o Edited June 19, 2003 by mikeb Quote

P.D. Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 Now I know what the other album is. The VSP series were all compilations of various verve albums I actually have that one somewhere because at the time they came out there wasn't much reissue program of complete Verve albums going on Most were just the artists name I thought it was called Johnny Hodges.. but it is a comp from other albums.
