Shawn Posted September 26, 2012 Report Posted September 26, 2012 Finished up the final season (5) of Damages. They tied things up neatly, though not quite as excitingly as I had hoped for. I'll miss the show, even though the last couple seasons weren't quite up to the level of the first 3, it was still a very enjoyable experience. Glenn Close vs. Rose Byrne has been a great pairing. The last shot of heavily made up Patty in the limo is haunting. She has all the trappings of success but has sold her soul. Glenn Close is a great actor Quote
Shawn Posted September 27, 2012 Report Posted September 27, 2012 The last shot of heavily made up Patty in the limo is haunting. She has all the trappings of success but has sold her soul. Glenn Close is a great actor Patty deserves to be miserable. The show was really like a slow descent into hell, the actors pulled that off beautifully. Close would have eaten many potential co-stars alive, I give credit to Byrne for standing toe to toe with her for the entire run. Class acts, both of them. Quote
jazzbo Posted September 29, 2012 Report Posted September 29, 2012 Re-watching last night's Grimm. Such a hoot to see my uncle on TV again. Quote

paul secor Posted October 1, 2012 Report Posted October 1, 2012 (edited) Early Sunday morning, I woke up at 2 a.m. and was unable to get back to sleep. I was flicking around and came across an odd looking film on TCM. Turned out to be something called The Sid Saga, a self made documentary about a man named Sid Laverents who lived a varied life. Recommended to those who are looking for something interesting and off the beaten track. Edited October 1, 2012 by paul secor Quote

kinuta Posted October 2, 2012 Report Posted October 2, 2012 BBC4 Room At The Top Excellent. I thought Lawrence Harvey owned the Joe Lampton role but Matthew McNulty's take on the character was brilliant. Quote
A Lark Ascending Posted October 2, 2012 Report Posted October 2, 2012 The first of Ian Hislop's three part history of the Stiff Upper Lip. Fascinating (and typically humorous) social history. Hopefully the nation is watching and will put aside its foolish emoting over people winning dancing competitions or being evicted from wannabeastar competitions. Harrumph! Quote
Matthew Posted October 2, 2012 Report Posted October 2, 2012 (edited) Friends: Season One. About every two years, I go on a major Friends watching spree, after all, all life's problems can be answered by following the example of Joey & Chandler. Edited October 2, 2012 by Matthew Quote
jazzbo Posted October 2, 2012 Report Posted October 2, 2012 An interesting show I liked much more than I thought I would. Quote

A Lark Ascending Posted October 6, 2012 Report Posted October 6, 2012 Even better than I remember it. The wit in this series is priceless. Farce it may be but pulled of superbly. Quote
kinuta Posted October 6, 2012 Report Posted October 6, 2012 (edited) "Person of Interst" with bad-ass villain Amy Acker. Now on to "Scandal" with the lovely Kerry Washington. I've watched Scandal with interest since the pilot and think it's among the best of the newbies. Like your Palmer Eldridge quip about the POI villain, can't quite see the connection but what do I know. Anyhow she's the best female baddy since Nina Myers ! Watched the pilot of BBC Hunted, which was really entertaining, fast paced and well done. I remember Melissa George from In Treatment, she was a standout as Laura and carries the new show well. Shawn Posted October 12, 2012 Report Posted October 12, 2012 The pilot for Hunted was excellent! Really looking forward to the rest of the series. Tonight watched the season 4 premiere of The Vampire Diaries. Quote
jazzbo Posted October 12, 2012 Report Posted October 12, 2012 Started watching "Magic City" on Blu-ray. Not bad. Lots of beauty. Speaking of which I'm watching the premier of "Beauty and the Beast" on CW just because Kristen Kreuk is the star. Lovely woman. Not a great show. Quote
