Also, the last episode of Mad Men was, like, to die for. It appears to be a moronic response by Dish to some sort of litigation regarding digital video recorders, although they claim it's because of low ratings (which sounds like b.s. to me). A campaign has been started to try to reverse the decision. Quote

BruceH Posted June 5, 2012 Report Posted June 5, 2012 Also, the last episode of Mad Men was, like, to die for. Sad. . . the poor guy. . . . I'm not sure it was a good move on the writer's part, but at least I found it more believable than what Joan did in the previous episode. Loved the scene where the Jag wouldn't start though! That was funny. Quote
jazzbo Posted June 5, 2012 Report Posted June 5, 2012 That was funny. I saw that coming. It didn't help that he blocked the other tail pipe too with the cloth. Poor Jared Harris. He is sacrificed as the "bishop" in the Fringe finale, and is off Mad Men too now. Such a good actor, following in his dad's footsteps. Quote
jeffcrom Posted June 7, 2012 Report Posted June 7, 2012 A Mighty Wind - a very funny film, and the "Mitch and Mickey" songs are really touching. Quote

Matthew Posted June 13, 2012 Report Posted June 13, 2012 (edited) The Sopranos: The Complete Series. Season One. Bought this today, as Best Buy was selling it for $59.99, and i had my Rewards certificates with me, so it cost me $34.00. Not too bad, and people I know just rave about this, so it will be interesting to see what all the fuss is about. Edited June 13, 2012 by Matthew Quote
A Lark Ascending Posted June 17, 2012 Report Posted June 17, 2012 (edited) The first part of the BBC 4 'Punk Britannia' season from a few weeks back. Very interesting - focussed on the pub rock scene of the early 70s rather than jumping straight into the Sex Pistols. I recall that scene being covered in the NME etc but, not living in London, it made no impression. Punk was everything I loathed at the time; but it's not hard to see why it happened. I'll still not be swapping my King Crimson records for The Clash! Edited June 17, 2012 by A Lark Ascending Quote
jazzbo Posted June 19, 2012 Report Posted June 19, 2012 (edited) Sweet. Currently 7 bucks at Best Buy. Edited June 19, 2012 by jazzbo Quote

jazzbo Posted June 20, 2012 Report Posted June 20, 2012 Yes, not a bad new series. I'm watching Quote
jazzbo Posted June 21, 2012 Report Posted June 21, 2012 Ha! Got to the final disc of Rescue Me, Season 2, popped it in, started watching it. . . and didn't know what the heck was going on. Checked the disc. . . it's the final disc of SEASON 3 somehow put into this set! So I ordered another used Season 2, they're cheap. Too bad only Season 3 is on Blu-ray. Quote
paul secor Posted June 22, 2012 Report Posted June 22, 2012 Episodes 8-11 of Frank's Place. Thanks again to a friend. Quote
mikelz777 Posted June 22, 2012 Report Posted June 22, 2012 I just watched the 2nd season ender for The Killing earlier today. I thought both seasons were great and I was happy with how they ended things for the 2nd season. So what are they going to do for the 3rd season? It looks like Richmond may not be as clean as he was made to appear earlier. Are we done with the Larsons? Holder and Linden are great together and I hope that that continues. I don't think we're done with Jackson and Ames yet. Quote
kinuta Posted June 22, 2012 Report Posted June 22, 2012 Dallas They didn't waste any time jumping into plotting, back stabbing and intrigue . Trashy but at least it wasn't boring. Quote

I was a bit disappointed with the wrap up, the two villains just didn't seem to have been properly fore-shadowed. But. . . it was a good run up to the final two. Quote

I just assumed there would be a new season, I didn't know the decision was still up in the air. A third season definitely has my vote. I wasn't part of the contingent that was upset over the killer not being revealed at the end of the 1st season but I didn't have to wait however many months for the 2nd season to start. Just before the 2nd season started I watched the entire 1st season over the course of several days so it was one continuous, unbroken story for me. Even so, I don't think I would have been bummed out if I had watched the series conventionally. Maybe initially but that only would have fueled the anticipation and excitement for the start of the 2nd season. I loved that I was kept in suspence and made to keep guessing over the course of two seasons. I thought they did an excellent job of that and I loved that I never guessed who the actual killer was until the moment they were revealed. I'm usually disappointed if I'm able to figure it out in advance. I love the chemistry between Linden and Holder and I would like to see more of them. Edited June 22, 2012 by mikelz777 Quote
jazzbo Posted June 22, 2012 Report Posted June 22, 2012 I sort of wish they'd just leave it be as it's a nice two season arc and the show hasn't had a chance to get stale or fall apart as many do. I'm not completely satisfied with the conclusion but I'm not upset about it. Like you I watched Season 1 over before Season 2 came along; the blu-ray of Season 1 looks and sounds beautiful. Quote
