I suspect the final episode was cobbled together when the writers were told the show would not have a 2nd season.

Maybe the end was his mind creating a new third reality where the wife lives and the kid lives dreams were reconciled into a livable unity. Then again I'm probably totally wrong. Who knows but I agree that it was best to finish it with one season, the combating alternate realities might have become very silly and tiresome if it had been dragged out and padded. Anyhow I enjoyed it.

The series creator has said that the final episode was written as it was when there was still a possible second season, at the insistence of the network. And he was quotes as saying basically one of the realities was real, and this new one at the end was, as you say, a third reality his mind had built.

It was a fun ride.

I hadn't been watching Awake (aside from the pilot) because I had a feeling there was no way it would get picked up for a second season. A shame, seemed like an interesting concept...but since there will be no resolution I'll invest my time elsewhere.

It actually IS a resolution of the main plot of the season, it just ended on a note that could lead to another season of "more of the same." It's a pretty good show, worth checking out.

Cool, I'm sure I'll get around to it eventually, I'm watching series faster than they can make them!

Jason Isaacs, the lead in Awake, has done a lot of UK tv work.

One from the BBC that I recommend as well worth your time is Case Histories. Seems it has been shown in America on PBS.

Here's a link

Seconded. Though the books are even better.

Wonder if we'll get the last book as a one off in the future?

In the Scandi spot last night:

Another oddball lead by the chap who played Wallander in the other Swedish version.

Dish is dropping AMC.

Means I'll have to download remaining episodes of The Killing & Mad Men.

Yeah, what's up with that?

Also, the last episode of Mad Men was, like, to die for.

It appears to be a moronic response by Dish to some sort of litigation regarding digital video recorders, although they claim it's because of low ratings (which sounds like b.s. to me). A campaign has been started to try to reverse the decision. :tdown

:)

Sad. . . the poor guy. . . .

I'm not sure it was a good move on the writer's part, but at least I found it more believable than what Joan did in the previous episode. Loved the scene where the Jag wouldn't start though! That was funny.

That was funny. I saw that coming. It didn't help that he blocked the other tail pipe too with the cloth.

Poor Jared Harris. He is sacrificed as the "bishop" in the Fringe finale, and is off Mad Men too now. Such a good actor, following in his dad's footsteps.

Agreed, a very good actor. I'll miss him on Mad Men.

The Sopranos: The Complete Series. Season One. Bought this today, as Best Buy was selling it for $59.99, and i had my Rewards certificates with me, so it cost me $34.00. Not too bad, and people I know just rave about this, so it will be interesting to see what all the fuss is about.

sunday-times-punk-britannia.jpg?w=319&h=450

The first part of the BBC 4 'Punk Britannia' season from a few weeks back.

Very interesting - focussed on the pub rock scene of the early 70s rather than jumping straight into the Sex Pistols. I recall that scene being covered in the NME etc but, not living in London, it made no impression.

Punk was everything I loathed at the time; but it's not hard to see why it happened.

I'll still not be swapping my King Crimson records for The Clash!
