kinuta Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 I'd love to see it as well; sounds like I'd appreciate it a lot more than that Joan Crawford abomination. (Not to blame it on Crawford; it wasn't her fault that apparently no one involved had read the book.) As far as I could see it followed the book very faithfully, scene by scene. The great direction and attention to detail really lifted it to film status. Thinking of it as just a tv film does it an injustice. Quote
kinuta Posted April 2, 2011 Report Posted April 2, 2011 The Good Wife Good as always, Kalinda in hot water. True Bloods Good but the idea of spending 80% of the time setting up a hopeless no win situation only to have it nattily resolved in the last five minutes or so is nonsense. Chaos New programme which is gonna die a swift death. Awful. Quote
jazzbo Posted April 2, 2011 Report Posted April 2, 2011 Yes, The Good Wife.. . building to a nice season conclusion. Now watching "Witchblade," a series from a comic book that doesn't have much going for it but does have a lead character, a woman homicide detective, that rides a motorcycle (and a Buell at that!) kinuta Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 Body Of Proof Surprisingly good ! Are we looking at Brenda's successor? Time will tell. Quote
A Lark Ascending Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 'Spiral' - third series of a French detective TV programme. After the slowly unwinding 'The Killing' this seemed quite manic - but it was engaging. Back to the sedate tonight. The start of the new series of... Quote
BruceH Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 (edited) Mildred Pierce HBO Episodes 1 & 2 Outstanding. I was captivated. I will no doubt be checking this out on disc. BTW, just Netflixed seasons 4-6 of House. (I'd stopped watching it on TV a while back, so this was playing catchup for me.) Edited April 5, 2011 by BruceH Quote
kinuta Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 The Kennedys - Episodes 1 & 2 Tom Wilkinson dominates everything as Joe. Competent cast but awful unimaginative direction with little style and panache. Unoffensive but bland, verging on dull. Quote
jlhoots Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 Mildred Pierce Episode 3. Excellent. Really well done. I know what's going to happen, & I'm still captivated. Quote
kinuta Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 Mildred Pierce Episode 3. Excellent. Really well done. I know what's going to happen, & I'm still captivated. Indeed, outstanding in every department. Almost insulting to relegate it to the tv programme thread, this is a fully developed and skillfully realized film. What a difference a talented director makes. Quote

jazzbo Posted April 11, 2011 Report Posted April 11, 2011 Mad Men season 4 on Blu-Ray. I'm enjoying watching Draper's world slowly sink. Quote
Shawn Posted April 11, 2011 Report Posted April 11, 2011 Alias: Season 5. Rachel Nichols + Amy Acker = must see TV Quote
kinuta Posted April 11, 2011 Report Posted April 11, 2011 The final two episodes of Mildred Pierce. So different to the Michael Curtiz version that making comparisons is a bit futile. I thought is was brilliant and will watch it all again in the near future. Quote
Jazzmoose Posted April 16, 2011 Report Posted April 16, 2011 Just rewatched the pilot episode of Baa Baa Blacksheep for the first time in over thirty years. Every cliche in the book, but kind of fun as a nostalgia thing. Quote

mikelz777 Posted April 16, 2011 Report Posted April 16, 2011 I very much enjoyed tonight's episode of Fringe. I like that they are taking chances and doing such interesting things with the show. It's really got me looking forward to how they're going to wrap up the season. Quote

kinuta Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 The Killing - Canadian remake version I'll be burned as a heretic for this but, based on the first four episodes, the remake is better than the original imo. Quote
jazzbo Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 (edited) I snoozed and missed setting this up to record until yesterday, so I'm going to watch the first two on demand and then the other two on the dvr this week. Looks really good. Edited April 18, 2011 by jazzbo Quote
