Jazzmoose Posted January 30, 2010 Report Posted January 30, 2010 Perry Mason first series eps 1 & 2. Aged well, the stories are tight and interesting. Makes a lot of modern glossy tv stuff look like junk ( Damages excepted ! ) I love that show, but probably will pass watching it on DVD; I'm afraid I'd still have them memorized! Quote
BruceH Posted January 31, 2010 Report Posted January 31, 2010 With any luck, will finish up Smiley's People tonight. Quote
jazzbo Posted January 31, 2010 Report Posted January 31, 2010 Prince movies are among my favorite comic book movies. Quote
kinuta Posted January 31, 2010 Report Posted January 31, 2010 More Perry Mason season 1. Can't wait for Lost final season Quote
A Lark Ascending Posted January 31, 2010 Report Posted January 31, 2010 (edited) About pirate radio in the UK in the mid-60s. Froth, I'm afraid. Lots of film cliches stiched together and backed with snippets of great pop songs from the time. Passed the time but it was time that could have been better passed. sidewinder Posted January 31, 2010 Report Posted January 31, 2010 'Jazz In Exile', fine documentary from 1982 with lots of footage of Dexter Gordon, Woody Shaw, Richard Davis, Phil Woods etc. Also lots of footage of Buddy Rich appearances with big band and in person from the Mike Douglas TV show. Excellent German film about the way that the Stasi took lives apart in East Germany. Agree - one of the best movies of recent years. I believe they actually used the 'real set' of the main interrogation centre (Hohenschonhausen, Berlin - you can visit it as a tourist). Stasi Hohenschonhausen Quote
Van Basten II Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 Saw my Gunners getting shellacked by Manure Watching the Shobox from last friday, more important than the fights themselves, it marked the return of blow by blow man and former CNN sports guy Nick Charles who fought successfully cancer. Quote
CJ Shearn Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 I watched Strikeforce on Showtime last night. Friday Night Fights on Friday....... excellent fight between Jesse Brinkley and Curtis Stevens. Glad that Nick Charles is back. Quote
BruceH Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 Excellent German film about the way that the Stasi took lives apart in East Germany. Agree - one of the best movies of recent years. I very much agree too. It reminded me of being a teen and going to see foreign films at the library and "art" cinemas in Boston and the Harvard Film Archive. Quote
paul secor Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 Everyday People - written & directed by Jim McKay. Worth watching for the ensemble acting. Quote
Shawn Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 Just finished up season 1, EXCELLENT SERIES! ...and I'm not just saying that because I'm addicted to Rose Byrne. Quote
jazzbo Posted February 2, 2010 Report Posted February 2, 2010 Yup. Season 3 is off to a bang up start as well. Right now Quote
BruceH Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 Will be watching "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy" later. Looking forward to spending some more time with George Smiley. Quote
mikelz777 Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 (edited) Freaks And Geeks Just finished this a couple of days ago. I got a nice deal on this set during the Christmas shopping season. I enjoyed the series but not enough to keep and re-watch it so I ended up selling it. It basically cost me $4.00 to watch which was well worth it. Edited February 4, 2010 by mikelz777 Quote
king ubu Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 Catching up on "Lost"... Ms. ubu had the first season on rent, I ignored it... then she realized buying was cheaper and got the second, of which I saw bits and pieces and slowly got into it... now she has seasons three and four waiting, and I'm about to finish season one, which I found used a week ago... still have to do all of season one, preferredly within next week, so the Ms. doesn't have to wait too long... kinuta Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 Lost S3 Eps 1&2 Roll out the old parallel universe trip. Damages S3 E2 I have to admit Iwatch Damages twice as I usually miss some important point the first time. Quote
Jazzmoose Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 Just finished rewatching the SF channel's Tin Man. Kind of fun. Quote
paul secor Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 (edited) Jesse Stone: Night Passage The Jesse Stone TV films were probably the best adaptions of Robert B. Parker's written work to a video format. Edited February 4, 2010 by paul secor Quote
mikelz777 Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 Steely Dan - Aja I love this DVD and how it discusses Aja being made. Fagan and Becker at the sound board breaking down the songs and many of the principal players interviewed about their parts of the recording process. A classic album and a classic treatment about how it was made. Quote
Matthew Posted February 7, 2010 Report Posted February 7, 2010 Seattle Mariners vs. New York Yankees, September 18, 2009. Ghost of Miles: I don't think this is going to come out good for the Yankees... Quote
