catesta Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 True Blood...I'm attempting to like this one, but it's a struggle. The first season is rough, but stick with it, it gets better. Hopefully they don't go off the deep end. I didn't start watching the show until the second season and then went back and started from the beginning. I'm hooked but so far I've been a little disappointed this season. Although it appears to be moving along a little better after lastnight. Quote
BruceH Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 I've been watching Mad Men Season 2 on Blu-Ray. A very well done show, this season as good as the first. I still don't really care about any of the characters. . . they're all kindof slimy. I don't know...the closest thing to a main character, "Don Draper," has his moments. Quote
jazzbo Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 He's a slime! I don't empathize with him or admire him at all, and that makes a problem for me with the series. Quote
catesta Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 He's a slime! I don't empathize with him or admire him at all, and that makes a problem for me with the series. What about that Mohawk, American Airlines thing? Quote
jazzbo Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 He didn't stand up for them, he let the deal go down. Let his client go to the dogs. And said "gee this is wrong." Big whoop. He cheated on his wife, he misled the women he was cheating with and left them hang, no one was more important than he. NO one. Even was coldly selfish with his longlost brother, causing his DEATH. Crummy husband, crummy father, okay business man. I'm so glad I'm nothing like him. Quote
jazzbo Posted July 31, 2009 Report Posted July 31, 2009 Watching "Threshold," The Complete Series (one season). Not fantastic. But it features Carla Gugino. SHE'S worth watching. Quote

Jazzmoose Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 LOST - Season 1. Believe it or not, I'm just now starting to watch this series...thank you Netflix! Hulu has the first season available now, so I guess I'll have to give it a try as well. That way you won't be the only one behind the times... Quote
BruceH Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 I've been going though the season one episodes of "Mad Men" lately, via Netflix. Just saw the episode "Shoot," the last one on disc three. I managed to completely miss this one on TV and it's a gem! More of a "stand-alone" episode (less "arcy" you might say), directed by Paul Feig. Draper is being courted by one of the really big Manhattan ad firms, and his wife Betty is enticed into returning to modeling. Great shot of the restored Los Angeles Theater in the beginning. Quote
Matthew Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 Dr Terrors House of Horrors. Nice old fashioned horror film. Quote

BruceH Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 "The Wheel" ---Another great episode. (Actually, the last four episodes of season one of Mad Men are all outstanding.) Quote
Matthew Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 Thanks to the Man With The Golden Arm: Movie on You Tube Shawn: Not sure if I was clear but the You Tube link is the Dr Terrors House of Horrors movie. Quote
catesta Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 Just watched Iron Maiden, Flight 666 in HD. A documentary of the 2008 tour. These guys still sound flawless. The hair was standing up on the back of my neck during the music clips. I might add, Dickinson flying the plane carrying all the band, crew and equipment is damn impressive. Quote
jazzbo Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 I'm watching Battlestar Galactica season two on Blu-Ray. Series looks and sounds great on Blu-Ray. Quote
