Brad Posted May 2, 2018 Report Posted May 2, 2018 Enjoyed what I've seen so far. It's motivated me to purchase volume 1 of the John Richardson biography. Quote

Brad Posted May 2, 2018 Report Posted May 2, 2018 According to what I’ve read, he’s working on the 4th and final volume. Quote
mjazzg Posted May 2, 2018 Report Posted May 2, 2018 Let's hope he completes it. It's a testament to him that he's doing so at the age of 94. It'll be either very long or less detailed to go from where he left off to Picasso's death. Maybe he'll just cover the next decade or so Quote
Brad Posted May 2, 2018 Report Posted May 2, 2018 Yes, it’s amazing to be hard at work on a book like that at age. On the other hand, researching and writing a book like that probably keeps you young. Quote

Guy Berger Posted May 14, 2018 Report Posted May 14, 2018 Anybody else really into S2 of WestWorld? It has the potential to be meaningfully better than the 1st. Quote
kh1958 Posted May 14, 2018 Report Posted May 14, 2018 Yes, I'm watching WestWorld 2. An excellent show. Quote
JSngry Posted May 14, 2018 Report Posted May 14, 2018 So, what's up with this Pinky Blinders thing? Quote

Brad Posted May 16, 2018 Report Posted May 16, 2018 It’s a great show about a Birmingham, England crime family. Four seasons, the first two are the best. Quote
erwbol Posted May 16, 2018 Report Posted May 16, 2018 I have only seen the first two seasons, but agree with Brad they are excellent. Quote
Brad Posted May 16, 2018 Report Posted May 16, 2018 The cast is excellent. To me, Cillian Murphy (the lead character), Helen McCrory, Paul Anderson and Sam Neill are fabulous. Tom Hardy also is in it and he’s superb. Quote
mjazzg Posted May 16, 2018 Report Posted May 16, 2018 (edited) Great programme, completely over the top in an almost operatic fashion at times. Driven by strong characters and acting, story lines that stretch credibility (rooted to varying degrees in historical accuracy) but has a hell of a narrative drive. All the actors mentioned by Brad are indeed superb but so too are those in the supporting roles. It's often compared unfavourably to Boardwalk Empire over here (another great series) but I think that misses the point somewhat. It's certainly changed many perceptions of Birmingham. Red right hand! and I guess you could blind someone with your pinky but not as efficiently as with those razor blades Edited May 16, 2018 by mjazzg Quote
Brad Posted May 17, 2018 Report Posted May 17, 2018 Patrick Melrose. Bit of a tough watch although Cumberbatch is superb. An English addict goes to pick up the remains of his father in NY and goes through several benders. Quote
Brad Posted May 17, 2018 Report Posted May 17, 2018 (edited) To be or not to be.... Classic! Edited May 17, 2018 by Brad Quote

Continuing to watch this. The last two episodes have been very good. I’m actually enjoying the parts about Picasso when he was younger than the later periods. Apollinaire is one of the interesting characters in Picasso’s life. Quote
Matthew Posted August 3, 2018 Report Posted August 3, 2018 (edited) Twilight Zone: Season One. What I have begun to love about TTZ is that there's a "honest emotion" to a lot of the episodes that television seem incapable of replicating in today's world -- maybe we're just too cynical nowadays.
