catesta Posted September 11, 2017 Report Posted September 11, 2017 The Deuce has the potential to be a great series. Other series going at the moment. Ballers, Dice and Ray Donovan. This season of Ray Donavan has been a let down thus far. I can't wait for Curb Your Enthusiasm to start. Quote

kinuta Posted September 12, 2017 Report Posted September 12, 2017 (edited) The Deuce Episode 1 Really well done. How did they create such a convincing looking 70's NYC ? 18 hours ago, catesta said: The Deuce has the potential to be a great series. Other series going at the moment. Ballers, Dice and Ray Donovan. Re Ray Donovan I think we all get the domestic thread without the drawn out flashbacks breaking up the rhythm of the story. They might have filmed a wholly different storyline and then scrapped it. Not wanting to waste the footage they came up with the multiple flashback thing. It doesn't work. Edited September 12, 2017 by kinuta Quote

jazzbo Posted September 17, 2017 Report Posted September 17, 2017 Re-watching Hannibal Season 3 on blu-ray, for the first time since broadcast. Tremendous television. Probably my favorite score for a show as well. Quote
kinuta Posted September 22, 2017 Report Posted September 22, 2017 Episode five. I've been watching this daily all week. The most interesting part is the footage from North Vietnam. It would have been a truly bold move to have made the whole series from their point of view. Quote

kinuta Posted September 29, 2017 Report Posted September 29, 2017 Finished The Vietnam War. It was very well done with a touching last episode. I think The 10,000 Day War is equally worthy, perhaps more so from a straight chronological history perspective, although The Vietnam War is more immediately satisfying. Quote

Two episodes would be a demanding full evenings viewing as each one is about 100 to 110 minutes. Anyhow it's essential tv imo. Also watched the excellent first episode of the six part Alias Grace. sidewinder Posted September 30, 2017 Report Posted September 30, 2017 55 minutes each episode per the BBC broadcasts. Quote

That would mean that , for unknown reasons, the episodes have been divided into two parts making the total number twenty instead of ten. I suppose the whole series is being shown over ten days. Quote
sidewinder Posted September 30, 2017 Report Posted September 30, 2017 I guess they were prepared for ‘export’ as one hour episodes and BBC4 ignored that and broadcast 2 per night. Shich they often do e.g. Borgen etc. Quote
catesta Posted October 2, 2017 Report Posted October 2, 2017 I watched a Season 8 marathon of Curb yesterday, so funny. Going to watch Season 9, Episode 1 tonight. Quote
kinuta Posted October 4, 2017 Report Posted October 4, 2017 Tin Star Atrocious, stupid and unwatchable. Abandoned . Quote
jazzbo Posted October 6, 2017 Report Posted October 6, 2017 Channel Zero: No Exit House. . . I like it. Gotham: still a great show. Scandal: not a great show, but Kerry Washington looks so good. Quote
kinuta Posted October 9, 2017 Report Posted October 9, 2017 Curb Your Enthusiasm The Pickles episode is a classic, really brilliant. Quote
kinuta Posted October 10, 2017 Report Posted October 10, 2017 The Deuce Realistic to a fault but very dark and grim stuff. Quote
catesta Posted October 10, 2017 Report Posted October 10, 2017 Based on next weeks preview it looks like the story line is going to tighten up some. I'm enjoying it but Maggie Gylllenhaal's character is exhausting. Quote
