erwbol Posted February 22, 2015 Report Posted February 22, 2015 Whereas in Fargo Bob Odenkirk was no more than Bob Odenkirk with a moustache, he's absolutely nailed it in the first three episodes of Better Call Saul. Quote
jazzbo Posted February 22, 2015 Report Posted February 22, 2015 Yes, it's pretty good. Finishing up Season 3 of The Shield. This show is addictive. Quote
kinuta Posted February 22, 2015 Report Posted February 22, 2015 Yes, it's pretty good. Finishing up Season 3 of The Shield. This show is addictive. The Shield is great. It manages to keep up the level of tension right through to the satisfying and well crafted end. Writing a good conclusion is something that seems to evade a lot of long running series but this show succeeds admirably. Quote
jazzbo Posted February 22, 2015 Report Posted February 22, 2015 I'm really enjoying it. . . I missed a lot by not having cable for a few decades and I'm catching up slowly. I'll move on to Season 4 soon but have decided to take a break by watching Dracula (NBC) on Blu-ray (lovely picture and sound). Also watched the latest episode of Black Sails. Quote

Shawn Posted February 24, 2015 Report Posted February 24, 2015 Bosch. A well-made detective series on Amazon Prime worth investigating.... Quote
A Lark Ascending Posted February 26, 2015 Report Posted February 26, 2015 Just reaching the end of: Utterly compelling. First disc from Season 3 arrived from Lovefilm ready for next week. Quote
erwbol Posted February 26, 2015 Report Posted February 26, 2015 After a very poor fifth season, Justified is back on track for its final season, the big showdown between Raylan and Boyd. The Americans also going strong this season. Huge potential here, let's hope it's not waisted like it almost was on Justified (both on FX). Quote

Indeed, the the level of the show has remained constant throughout, no small achievement. I've been a fan since it began. Quote
A Lark Ascending Posted March 9, 2015 Report Posted March 9, 2015 Now well into series 3: There are now so many threads emerging and re-emerging and everyone seems compromised. You just keep waiting for the next one to blow up. Rather like the humour too - the judges are all eccentrics, some of the opposing council utterly kooky and the Brits...well, standard US depiction of Brits clearly based on a careful study of P.G. Wodehouse. I love it. Quote
erwbol Posted March 9, 2015 Report Posted March 9, 2015 Manchester United - Arsenal, FA Cup quarter final on BBC One HD. No sighting of Atzmon as musical warm-up act as of yet. Quote
jazzbo Posted March 9, 2015 Report Posted March 9, 2015 Da Vinci's Demons, Season 2 on Blu-ray. Love this show, it's such a hoot. Especialy this season with the trip to the New World. Quote
catesta Posted March 9, 2015 Report Posted March 9, 2015 I heard an Entourage movies was coming this summer so I went back and re-watched from season 1. Have the final episode of Season 8 left for tonight and I'll be done. Making my way through Season 4 of The Wire. Current season of House of Lies is like all the others. Entertaining with laughs but the whole Marty and Jeannie love/hate thing is tiresome. Quote
duaneiac Posted March 10, 2015 Report Posted March 10, 2015 I wanted to like this series more. The characters really aren't all that compelling and it just felt hard to give a hoot about some of them. Some of the storylines rely too much on fortuitous coincidence. It is a very "talky" program, but much of the dialogue sounds/feels authentic. I don't know that I'm in any hurry to see Season 2, though. Quote
jazzbo Posted March 10, 2015 Report Posted March 10, 2015 Better Call Saul. Now that's what I'm talking about. Outstanding. Quote

BruceH Posted March 11, 2015 Report Posted March 11, 2015 Better Call Saul. I've been on board since the beginning, but last night's episode (#6) was amazing. The show goes dark. Damn. Quote
