erwbol Posted March 4, 2014 Report Posted March 4, 2014 House of Cards season 2 episode 4. Downloaded it about two weeks ago, watched the first three episodes, then the next day forgot I even had it on my harddrive for a week or so. Not a good sign? Quote

A Lark Ascending Posted March 6, 2014 Report Posted March 6, 2014 Finished the series last night - really enjoyed it. There are some very large thumbprints with The West Wing - the unresolved relationships that stretch over episode after episode, the cloying sentimentality about America etc. But I loved the characters and was kept intrigued throughout (only the 'We Got Bin Laden' episode left me unsettled - probably plays better inside the US than elsewhere). Series 2 is not out here yet but I'll be renting it as soon as it comes out. Quote
Shawn Posted March 7, 2014 Report Posted March 7, 2014 Downton Abbey - season 2. Okay, this show is so addictive it's like British crack. Amazing considering how shopworn most of the plot elements are (the flower show episode from season 1 stolen directly from Mrs. Miniver had me wincing a little), it's really the characterizations that make this show worthwhile and they are damn good across the board. I had never seen Michelle Dockery prior to this series but I became an instant fan. Quote
A Lark Ascending Posted March 8, 2014 Report Posted March 8, 2014 Nice programme on Muscle Shoals on BBC 4 last night . Worth chasing on the iPlayer. Quote

For some strange reason my region is only due to get HD roll-out for BBC4 on Freeview later this year, yet I can get HD on the I-Player ! Quote
jazzbo Posted March 8, 2014 Report Posted March 8, 2014 Last night's Raising Hope. I love this show. Quote
kinuta Posted March 10, 2014 Report Posted March 10, 2014 I've been watching some of Chicago PD. Undemanding and formulaic but entertaining fast food type tv. Quote
kinuta Posted March 10, 2014 Report Posted March 10, 2014 True Detective - finale Intense, well judged and completely satisfying end to a superb show. I was very impressed and will rewatch the whole season. Quote

Shawn Posted March 11, 2014 Report Posted March 11, 2014 The Returned (Les Revenants) Excellent series, well worth seeking out. (currently available on Netflix streaming in the US) This is so good it makes me scared to try the US remake. Quote
jazzbo Posted March 11, 2014 Report Posted March 11, 2014 (edited) Not great so far but now bad, better so far than Alcatraz. Has Jake McLaughlin in it, who I think is a decent actor, I enjoyed his work in Crash Season 2. Also has the charismatic Delroy Lindo. It has a "Touch" influence, not a bad thing in my book. The Returned is available on DVD if you don't stream.I don't believe I'll watch the US remake of Broadchurch either - although it is going to star Anna Gunn. Don't need to decide for the present. I will probably wait until I find out whether it gets renewed for a second season prior to starting it. I've kind of given up on the uncertainty of network TV. Quote
