jlhoots Posted January 5, 2014 Report Posted January 5, 2014 Watched Boardwalk Empire first season on Blu. Was interesting. I had a hard time with it at first as I really didn't like any of the characters. And you won't like them as the series progresses...the exception being Richard Harrow. Even Chalky White, who I dig (as in "don't feel any warmth towards, but still have a sense of understanding and respect for" b/c he reminds me so much of some modern-day people I've known) even his once rock-solid principles eventually get perverted. It's a whole bunch of twisted fucks on this show, and the parade doesn't stop. But it's a good story well told, and if the moral is that anybody can/will do anything to anybody when they think they won't be held accountable (or can get around/away from it if they are), then I have to say that the moral of the story is one with which I reluctantly/sadly agree. I like it when Patricia Arquette suddenly shows up as Nucky's Florida associate / girl friend. Quote

erwbol Posted January 8, 2014 Report Posted January 8, 2014 I'm in the middle of a Justified season 4 marathon. Last season was excellent and I hadn't had the time yet to watch it a second time at my own pace. Then it's on to season 5 which premiered last night on US television. (Internet-is-my-friend style with a morning cup of tea is how I've been watching US shows for years now.) Quote
jazzbo Posted January 8, 2014 Report Posted January 8, 2014 One of my brothers and his wife LOVE Justified. I haven't really been able to get into it yet, but I'll try again. I have the first two seasons on DVD (a gift). I just watched the debut of Killer Women. A waste of time. The only reason I really watched it was the first episode was filmed in Austin and it's fun to see a show with scenes in places you've been to. Quote
jlhoots Posted January 9, 2014 Report Posted January 9, 2014 Finished Homeland - season 2. Watched the first episode of the new season of Justified. Quote
ghost of miles Posted January 9, 2014 Report Posted January 9, 2014 The West Wing, Season 5. Holding up better than I expected in the post-Sorkin era. Quote
BruceH Posted January 12, 2014 Report Posted January 12, 2014 Adventure Time. It's really good. On Season 4 now. Quote
erwbol Posted January 13, 2014 Report Posted January 13, 2014 I'm about to watch the pilot episode of HBO's True Detective. Supposed to be an excellent show. Quote
jazzbo Posted January 13, 2014 Report Posted January 13, 2014 "Helix," SyFy series premiered recently. So far not bad, shares producers with SyFy's "Battlestar Galactica." I'll give anything with Billy Campbell a chance. Quote
Shawn Posted January 13, 2014 Report Posted January 13, 2014 The Rockford Files - Season One. Haven't seen the show since I was a kid, fun going back and watching this from the beginning. All the great 70s Los Angeles locations are a great bonus as well Quote
jlhoots Posted January 13, 2014 Report Posted January 13, 2014 Excellent. On my DVR.Looking forward. Quote

jazzbo Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 Missed this in the theater (haven't seen any movies there in six months) but making up for it. Quote
JSngry Posted February 6, 2014 Report Posted February 6, 2014 If there was still any doubt that Al Jackson was god, this should dispel it. But Duck Dunn sittehed at the left side of god, and is entertaining as hell to watch in the process. And they still "don't know" who murdered Al Jackson. How does that work, exactly? Quote
jlhoots Posted February 6, 2014 Report Posted February 6, 2014 Finished Top Of The Lake - worth seeing. Now on to the US version of House Of Cards.Watched the first six episodes. Can see what all of the praise is about. Quote

kinuta Posted February 11, 2014 Report Posted February 11, 2014 (edited) True Detective episode 4 Intense isn't the word. The last ten minutes were really incredible with an almost seven minute single take none cut action sequence that had me literally on the edge of my seat. As gripping as the best bits of Breaking Bad. Matthew McConaughey has made a truly spectacular career turn round. :tup Edited February 11, 2014 by kinuta Quote
