The 2nd & 3rd episodes of the new Wallander BBC series. The Dogs Of Riga & Before The Frost.

I thought they were both well done and it was nice to see him actually smile at the end of Before The Frost.

Not as good as the original ,Johanna Sällström and Krister Henriksson are unmatchable.

Damages-season-4.jpg

Just finished Damages season 4. Really liked this season, fewer episodes slimmed down the plotline a bit but it maintained the punch. Goodman and Dylan Baker were both excellent. It also has my favorite final scene of the series so far, I practically jumped out of my seat and cheered!

Season 5 is currently on air, glad this series is continuing.

I'm glad as well. Wish they would put these out on Blu-ray as well as DVD, but if wishes were horses the streets would be covered in dung.

Just finished watching Sunday's "Breaking Bad." Better than the season opening episode for me. I'm interested to see where this goes from here. . . .

Entertaining "Syfy" series, kind of like Xmen with the "superhero trappings" removed. The always excellent David Strathairn makes a compelling leader, Ryan Cartwright (Bones) steals every scene he's in. The pilot episode was a little too laid back, but the series gains momentum quickly. Lots of cool genre actors show up in guest spots including Summer Glau (Firefly), Brent Spiner (TNG) and Rebecca Mader (Lost/Fringe).

Rewatched season 4 of Breaking Bad. Then I went through the commentaries on the last three episodes.

Me too, it must be catching.

Thought I'd watch a couple of episodes but ended up watching it all in two sittings.

I like Alphas. Somehow I managed to miss the last two episodes of the first season, but I'm muddling through the new one somehow.

Season 4 was fantastic! They could have ended it there. Somehow I'm not as keen on this season. . . Walter is an ever-increasing asshole and it's not quite as good for me.

Just started watching Season One. Like the tone so far, kind of a "light" supernatural show (no monsters or vampires) with a refreshingly wry sense of humor.

The Two Escobars. The best of the 30 for 30 ESPN documentary series. Tells the story of Pablo Escobar, the Drug Lord, Andres Escobar, the Columbian soccer player, and how the drug money caused tragedy and death in its relationship with Columbian soccer. Powerful film, with a very interesting cast of characters, and acutely depressing, but very moving also.

still feel the same about Sorkin's The Newsroom now as when it started 'bout a month or two back: not his best but still worth watching. it's worth it because within each hour-long episode there's at least one or two scenes which are better than most everything else on television at that moment. last week's episode was no exception. there were two scenes (both somewhat longish...) which i thought were exceptional. here's one below. don't give up in the first couple minutes - it builds:

will post the next scene as soon as it finishes uploading...

well this is interesting: the 2nd scene i wanted to post here is "blocked worldwide" on youtube. its being blocked in and of itself is not surprising. it's an HBO program after all and they own it and etc etc etc... but the previous scene i uploaded above is from the same episode and was not detected. both were uploaded as "unlisted" videos. here are the two reasons supplied by youtube for the blocked status:

"Olivia Munn Shares Her Paparazzi Face-Olivia Munn Shares Her Paparazzi Face", audiovisual content administered by:

Associated Press (AP)

"Late Night With Jimmy Fallon", audiovisual content administered by:

NBC Universal

there's audio auto-detection software on youtube that blocks music content from being uploaded (sometimes only in certain parts of the globe), but there's no music content in this scene that would cause that to click in. no idea what the Jimmy Fallon connection would be, but "Olivia Munn Shares Her Paparazzi Face", audiovisual content administered by: Associated Press (AP)" is interesting. maybe Munn's face is video auto-detected right now 'cuz she's doing so well? the scene i tried to upload was all about her character and she's terrific in the scene. so is Sam Waterston. oh well. hope i don't get penalized too harshly...

* Edit!

weird goings on. i deleted the "worldwide blocked" vid (double meltdown). then 3-4 hours later, after it was deleted, i got this email from youtube:

Dear thedwork65,

well, if anyone is interested here's the scene. it's kinda long and i had to edit it together 'cuz there were other subplots interspersed that i figured folks here didn't need to see if they only wanted to check out one good scene. anyway, enjoy if you feel so inclined (it might be gone soon...):

p.s. - anyone else w/ youtube experience that has advice for this kind of thing please chime in...

Damages - Season 5. This latest (and final) season is INTENSE! It's already far darker than last season. I have a feeling it's going to be memorable.

I had trouble on Youtube with FOX when trying to upoad a foolish video containing 10 seconds tops of Futurama. I have not been able to post unlisted videos for 2 years, until last week!

The incriminating video:
