Matthew Posted April 7, 2012 Report Posted April 7, 2012 The Mary Tyler Moore Show. The first show of the series. My favorite line, by Lou Grant: "You know what? You got spunk... I hate spunk!" Hilarious Quote
A Lark Ascending Posted April 8, 2012 Report Posted April 8, 2012 (edited) 'White Heat' Unlike kinuta, I've enjoyed this. Lots of dramatic cliches - former flatmates meeting up to remember a wild past, a tendency to want to reference every political and cultural event of the time, the 'difficult' father-son (and father daughter) relationship. But it's kept me interested. Yes, it's historical costume drama, but...at least there are no icebergs. Yet (I've only got to episode 3). Edited April 8, 2012 by A Lark Ascending Quote
BFrank Posted April 8, 2012 Report Posted April 8, 2012 Local Hero was on KQED tonight. I never get tired of watching it. Quote
paul secor Posted April 11, 2012 Report Posted April 11, 2012 The first four episodes of Frank's Place - a great forgotten show. Many thanks to a friend. Quote
jazzbo Posted April 11, 2012 Report Posted April 11, 2012 Based on the previews for Touch I decided not to watch it. Plus I really hate Kiefer Sutherland, so I avoid him whenever possible. I don't hate Kiefer, but I did really see no merit in "24," but he's okay in "Touch" for me. It's a bit of a hokey set up show, but it is quite sweet in its way, showing how people are connected and showing bravery and kindness. I like it. Quote
jazzbo Posted April 12, 2012 Report Posted April 12, 2012 Me either. Jive-ass BS. Like the books a lot. I'm really liking "Dollhouse" a lot better this time around. Quote
Matthew Posted April 13, 2012 Report Posted April 13, 2012 (edited) The Partridge Family: The Complete First Season. Danny Bonaduce & Dave Madden have to be one of the funniest tandems ever. This would get me kicked off the Hoffman site, but I like the Partridge Family more than the Monkees. PS: WTH??? Music by Benny Golson? I never realized... Edited April 13, 2012 by Matthew Quote

A Lark Ascending Posted April 13, 2012 Report Posted April 13, 2012 Just finished 'White Heat' which got better and better as it went on. A very moving ending. Quote
jazzbo Posted April 14, 2012 Report Posted April 14, 2012 (edited) Finally bought this on DVD. Wish there were a second season. Edited April 14, 2012 by jazzbo Quote
jazzbo Posted April 16, 2012 Report Posted April 16, 2012 (edited) Watched this last night. What an experience! Shows why Joel Dorn said of Kirk: "the late, great, one of a kind miracle, baddest motherfucker ever, Rahsaan Roland Kirk." Edited April 16, 2012 by jazzbo Quote
jlhoots Posted April 16, 2012 Report Posted April 16, 2012 Getting ready for a 3 hour TV "marathon" - The Killing, Mad Men, The Good Wife starting in 7 minutes. Quote
jazzbo Posted April 16, 2012 Report Posted April 16, 2012 I'll at least be watching Good Wife and Mad Men, may be watching The Killing tomorrow. But three good shows one night! Quote
BruceH Posted April 16, 2012 Report Posted April 16, 2012 (edited) Anyone catch "Mad Men" last night? Excellent episode! I love that Don hates the 'burbs now. Who'd have thought that Ken would start writing science fiction stories? And the fight was great. I figured Lane would win, despite the difference in ages. With a father like his, he'd have to have learned how to take a few punches. Edited April 16, 2012 by BruceH Quote
jazzbo Posted April 16, 2012 Report Posted April 16, 2012 It was a good episode. I loved Pete getting knocked down a peg or three! I loved the little exchange between Roger and Don, and Don drawing the curtains. Quote
jazzbo Posted April 16, 2012 Report Posted April 16, 2012 Again. . .it's so good! Watched this last night. What an experience! Shows why Joel Dorn said of Kirk: "the late, great, one of a kind miracle, baddest motherfucker ever, Rahsaan Roland Kirk." Quote
kinuta Posted April 17, 2012 Report Posted April 17, 2012 The dvd from the Ray Charles Complete Atlantic box. Absolutely sublime. Quote
BruceH Posted April 17, 2012 Report Posted April 17, 2012 It was a good episode. I loved Pete getting knocked down a peg or three! I loved the little exchange between Roger and Don, and Don drawing the curtains. And the whole bit with the plumbing! Quote
