keberobeats88 Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 You know what I really like? Death Metal. I really like Death Metal. Sue me. But there is no other music with that pure onslaught of harsh tones, noisey expression, and edgy emotion over a big fat groove. I mean...I like the music...the whole scene is pretty dumb; I don't pay attention to the whole gore blablabla stuff or any of that. But I like Cryptopsy and Grimfist! But I also like Sonny Stitt and Weather Report. I guess I'm just schizo. Or crazy. On that note, I really like Sonny Stitt. --> Quote
Jazz Kat Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 I love live metal. Whats wrong with that?? Quote
keberobeats88 Posted March 31, 2005 Author Report Posted March 31, 2005 Haha I just wanted to start a thread on the Organissimo board about Death Metal. Quote
keberobeats88 Posted March 31, 2005 Author Report Posted March 31, 2005 And I'm in one of those moods. It's good B-) Quote
keberobeats88 Posted March 31, 2005 Author Report Posted March 31, 2005 What live metal do you like then? Quote
Jazz Kat Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 None, it was a joke. Live as opposed to death. I find the music annoying, immature music with explicit trite lyrics. But that's just me. No need to bust ya bouble. Quote
keberobeats88 Posted March 31, 2005 Author Report Posted March 31, 2005 Oh hahaha I thought you meant you were agreeing, that you liked it in a live setting. Oh hell yea it's immature and extremely trite and pretty meaningless, but fun. At least to me. Quote
Jazz Kat Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 I meant the lyrics were trite. There is no reason to curse every second and sing about what they do. I mean everybody curses. But it shouldn't be every other second. No music is trite, imo. Quote
Nate Dorward Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 kb88--you'll probably find more sympathetic ears at the Bagatellen site, where Phil Freeman & Jason Bivins write frequently on metal. Quote
Jazz Kat Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 We need some more death metal/jazz collaborations. Or wait, no... Classical and death metal. Quote
Nate Dorward Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 We need some more death metal/jazz collaborations. Well, John Zorn's already been there, done that. Quote
Jazz Kat Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 Wow. They really have fused, everything. Quote

The Red Menace Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 interesting poster.. Metal and jazz... hmmm, reminds me of somebody, but can't quite put my finger on the suspect!!! Quote
DatDere Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 I don't listen to (death) metal a lot, but there are some interesting groups with pretty advanced musicians. Cynic, Atheist and Death made nice records, for example. I really like Mr. Bungle and some of the other Mike Patton projects. Quote
Joe G Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 interesting poster.. Metal and jazz... hmmm, reminds me of somebody, but can't quite put my finger on the suspect!!! Me? Quote
Big Wheel Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 A buddy who is an excellent jazz guitarist loves speed metal and is in awe of some of the lines the guitarists come up with. He particularly likes Slayer. Quote
Jazz Kat Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 interesting poster.. Metal and jazz... hmmm, reminds me of somebody, but can't quite put my finger on the suspect!!! Was Aric a drummer? Quote
DTMX Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 At forty years I should know better, but obviously don't. As of late, I've been enjoying the music of an Atlanta band named Mastodon, especially their latest release, Leviathan. This is one heavy sound. Quote
