Chuck Nessa Posted March 24, 2005 Report Posted March 24, 2005 Dare I ask (Chuck) who the trumpet player was on this date?? Though I realize that there are much bigger fish here to fry, than clearing up a discographical uncertainty. (FWIW, I did not download the date, so I'm only asking out of wild curiosity.) Fred Berry is the trumpet player. You can get a bunch of hits on Google with "Fred Berry trumpet" and THIS is one of them. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted March 25, 2005 Report Posted March 25, 2005 (edited) FWIW, the session in question produced 6 "tunes" totaling 43 minutes. In addition, I have access to 2 more performances for another 9 minutes, performed by the same personnel. Looks like a cd to me. Edited March 25, 2005 by Chuck Nessa Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted March 25, 2005 Report Posted March 25, 2005 Sounds interesting to me. In round figures, Chuck, what do you think it take to get this project off the ground?? Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted March 25, 2005 Report Posted March 25, 2005 You did say off the ground - not finished. Quote
GregK Posted March 26, 2005 Report Posted March 26, 2005 Somewhere between 10 and 20. this makes me appreciate the Art Ensemble box set even more. Quote

Guest akanalog Posted March 27, 2005 Report Posted March 27, 2005 It might not be a bad idea to have some of your other artists removed while you're at it. boo. no need to remove artists. users of the easytree site make efforts not to trade material which has been or might be released officially. removing artists would deprive people of trading live performances and radio broadcasts which they would otherwise not get a chance to listen to but which will not or have not had any "commercial life" outside of sketchy bootlegs. I guess you're right. It's such a grey area. I love having this stuff up there and I hope the artists are cool with it, but there's also the hope that they're not aware of it in the first place, which allows us to keep on sharing. Hopefully, Chuck and his artist friends will see that we do respect their wishes. The quick reaction and deletion of this torrent shows a strong respect for the musician's wishes and willingness to accommodate them. Quote
Michael Fitzgerald Posted April 6, 2005 Report Posted April 6, 2005 Just received this note (although I have never been an easytree member): --- Hello gals and guys, We're very sorry having to tell you that we had to shut down EZT forever just a couple of minutes ago. We got a call from our provider, they had received a few letters from a couple of lawyers. They requested EZT to be shut down immediately, otherwise we'd be sued. As you may imagine, we do not have the funds to fight a battle we most probably can't win anyway. We would like to thank everyone here for their contributions to EZT, one way or the other, for sharing the music, sharing an ideal, for all your mails, rants, praises... I'm sorry, I'm still too shocked to write on... maybe later I'll find some more words or my collegues will do... To say it with Joan Armatrading: We had fun, fun, fun, fun fun, fun, fun, fun we had fun -- while it lasted... --"Tall in the Saddle"-- You all take good care! jupiter2101, EZT Chief Mod Quote
7/4 Posted April 6, 2005 Report Posted April 6, 2005 Ah..bummer. I did get a lot of cool stuff off of easytree. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted May 22, 2010 Report Posted May 22, 2010 I am bringing up this old thread to announce that I will be issuing these historical recordings. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted May 22, 2010 Report Posted May 22, 2010 We just finalized the deal today. The original tapes will be here soon. It will take a few months to get everything together. I've waited for a few decades for this to happen. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted May 23, 2010 Report Posted May 23, 2010 (edited) You Euro folks won't be able to afford it. The exchange rate looks deadly. Edited May 26, 2010 by Chuck Nessa Quote
