Randy Weston Mosaic Select question

On Disk 3 of the Randy Weston Select there is an unusual type of percussion sound, it can be heard at the beginning and throughout “Mystery of Love”. Does anyone know what type of instrument is used to make the “Shhhhhhh” sound. It sounds like it might be shaken like maracas but it has more of a cymbal like sound.

Without listening to it, I would suggest the possibility of a sizzle cymbal - a normal cymbal with added small metal rivets that vibrate when it is played. I'll try to remember to check later.

Sounds like a bundle of very small cast brass bells, each about 1/5 of an inch in diameter, the Indians use them as ankle bells for dancers. When used like a shaker they sound like this.
