Jay
There's a huge article in this month's Jazztimes. Postponing it really makes them look stupid. Bertrand. ← Big article in DownBeat too. ← and Jason Bivins' excellent overview in Signal To Noise
ghost of miles
There's a huge article in this month's Jazztimes. Postponing it really makes them look stupid. Bertrand. ← Big article in DownBeat too. ← and Jason Bivins' excellent overview in Signal To Noise ← I'll look for that... Jason used to live here in B-town. Check out his group, The Unstable Ensemble, if you're into improv.
WD45
Always liked Bivens' writing. Haven't picked up a Signal to Noise for a while...

Claude
Frustrating news on the Cellar Door Sessions 1970 boxed set: its release date, originally earmarked for September 27, has been put on hold. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the problem involves the Miles Davis Estate, in a story not dissimilar to that of The Last Word. No new release date is set, so fingers crossed that any difficulties and differences are sorted out soon. Watch this space for a new release date, or, if the set doesn't come out, the behind-the-scenes story of why not. Meanwhile, my article on the Cellar Door has been published in JazzTimes magazine in the US. Italian, French, German, and Dutch versions are to follow soon. (More details on the set below.) http://www.miles-beyond.com/news.htm
Jad
Asked a clerk at the local CD store about it last week, and he said it was scheduled to be out last Tues (Sept 27). As it was out of my price range, I neglected to follow up on this info.
Free For All
I neglected to follow up on this info. ← That's OK, your crack* Organissimo news team is on the case. Looks like the end of October for the CD release. Hopefully. You and your local CD guy should hang out here. Claude
October 25 is mentionned on some CD store websites. http://www.deepdiscountcd.com/index.cfm?re...pc=827969361429 Amazon.com even says "Usually ships within 1 to 2 weeks" http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000AP2Z6C/ But I rather trust CD Universe's "Release Date Not Determined" Edited October 3, 2005 by Claude
JSngry
I've let my $38.49 CDU order ride, and it still seems to be good for whenever this sucker gets released, even if it's in 2525 (if man is still alive). That's a good thing, I should think

md655321
Im sure a few sets have made it out there through pomotion and review copies. It has already been available online (through P2P programs) for weeks. I hope this gets released. The music is phenomenal. As I never had Live-Evil this is quite an awakening for me. That stuff sounded like the final product. In this thread, it is meontioned that "reference copies" already circulated in 2001: http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=8677 Edited October 3, 2005 by Claude

Guest youmustbe
It will take 5-6 weeks to affix a sticker to the 20,000 copies boxes printed that covers up the original 'Produced by Bob Belden and Adam Holzman' with 'Produced by Miles Davis Compilation Produced by Bob Belden and Adam Holzman' ...as per demand of Miles Davis Estate.
