Imagine if this was your kid

Recommended Posts

You probably don't want to be watching this at work.

No nudity, but the kid's got a mouth.

Do you think it's funny...or, ultimately, sad.

Does it make you feel:

"Thank God, the kid's learning to be creative

with stream-of-consciousness spoken word."

or are you inclined to say:

"What's the deal? Are his parents away?"

my feed keeps breaking up but ..."waffle house mouse from ecuador! amore to gloreh. take little girls on the zone coaster then put em in the toaster."

as jon landau sed "i've seen the future of rap and roll ..."

Madman drummers bummers and indians in the summer with a teenage diplomat

In the dumps with the mumps as the adolescent pumps his way into his hat

With a boulder on my shoulder feelin’ kinda older I tripped the merry-go-round

With this very unpleasing sneezing and wheezing the calliope crashed to the ground

Some all-hot half-shot was headin’ for the hot spot snappin’ his fingers clappin’ his hands

And some fleshpot mascot was tied into a lover’s knot with a whatnot in her hand

And now young scott with a slingshot finally found a tender spot and throws his lover in the sand

And some bloodshot forget-menot whispers daddy’s within earshot save the buckshot turn up the band... and on

watch out SATs! and thank god he's not listening to Journey!

I think that's pretty, pretty sad, just a general reflection of how far this culture has sunk. If parents are providing a proper education and monitoring things, you hope this doesn't happen. You say "hope" because it's very hard to control kids nowadays. As my son say, "you can't force me" so if you've got a determined child, it's very hard to get them to do what you think may be the right thing. In my view, what that kid is doing is not the right thing.

I dunno, it is not that far off from someone banging out three chords and shouting a cover of "Louie, Louie." I am pretty sure I was nearly as ridiculous and foul-mouthed at that age, too. ;)

He actually has more talent that 50 Cent, IMHO. B-)

No offense but that's not saying a lot. If he was doing Louie, Louie, I'd be happy. I realize times are different and that while I look askance at rap, etc., my parents probably did the same with the Beatles. However, as to what passes today for musical expression is just way removed from what I think it used to be.

Back in the 60's, the Kingsmen (who recorded Louie Louie) were brought up on obscenity charges for that song.

I realize I lost track of modern music about 10 years ago. I'm a fuddy-duddy now.

I guess I'll just have to trust my son and his judgement on what he'll be listening to as a teenager. I remember my mom screaming at me (she never yelled at me normally) to turn off Suicidal Tendancies (a punk band) when I was a teenager and I turned out fine. (I think :P )

Institutionalized

Sometimes I try to do things and it just doesn't work out the way I wanted to.

I get real frustrated and I try hard to do it and I take my time and it

doesn't work out the way I wanted to.

It's like I concentrate real hard and it doesn't work out

Everything I do and everything I try never turns out

It's like I need time to figure these things out

But there's always someone there going

Hey Mike:

You know we've been noticing you've been having a lot of problems lately. You

know, maybe you should get away and maybe you should talk about it, maybe

you'll feel a lot better

And I go:

No it's okay, you know I'll figure it out, just leave me alone I'll figure

it out. You know I'll just work by myself.

And they go:

Well you know if you want to talk about it I'll be here you know and you'll

probably feel a lot better if you talk about it.

And I go:

No I don't want to I'm okay, I'll figure it out myself and they just keep

bugging me and they just keep bugging me and it builds up inside and it

builds up inside.

So you're gonna be institutionalized

You'll come out brainwashed with bloodshot eyes

You won't have any say

They'll brainwash you until you see their way.

I'm not crazy - institutionalized

You're the one who's crazy - institutionalized

You're driving me crazy - institutionalized

They stuck me in an institution

Said it was the only solution

to give me the needed professional help

to protect me from the enemy, myself

I was in my room and I was just like staring at the wall thinking about

everything but then again I was thinking about nothing

And then my mom came in and I didn't even know she was there she called my

name and I didn't even hear it, and then she started screaming MIKE! MIKE!

And I go:

What, what's the matter

And she goes:

What's the matter with you?

I go:

There's nothing-wrong mom.

And she goes:

Don't tell me that, you're on drugs!

And I go:

No mom I'm not on drugs I'm okay, I was just thinking you know, why don't

you get me a pepsi.

And she goes:

NO you're on drugs!

I go:

Mom I'm okay, I'm just thinking.

She goes:

No you're not thinking, you're on drugs! Normal people don't act that way!

I go:

Mom just give me a Pepsi please

All I want is a Pepsi, and she wouldn't give it to me

All I wanted was a Pepsi, just one Pepsi, and she wouldn't give it to me.

Just a Pepsi.

They give you a white shirt with long sleeves

Tied around you're back, you're treated like thieves

Drug you up because they're lazy

It's too much work to help a crazy

I'm not crazy - institutionalized

You're the one who's crazy - institutionalized

You're driving me crazy - institutionalized

They stuck me in an institution

Said it was the only solution

To give me the needed professional help

To protect me from the enemy, myself

I was sitting in my room and my mom and my dad came in and they pulled up

achair and they sat down, they go:

Mike, we need to talk to you

And I go:

Okay what's the matter

They go:

Me and your mom have been noticing lately that you've been having a lot of

problems, you've been going off for no reason and we're afraid you're gonna

hurt somebody, we're afraid you're gonna hurt yourself.

So we decided that it would be in your interest if we put you somewhere

where you could get the help that you need.

And I go:

Wait, what do you mean, what are you talking about, we decided!? My best

interest?! How can you know what's my best interest is? How can you say what

my best interest is? What are you trying to say, I'm crazy? When I went to

your schools, I went to your churches, I went to your institutional learning

facilities?! So how can you say I'm crazy.

They say they're gonna fix my brain

Alleviate my suffering and my pain

But by the time they fix my head

Mentally I'll be dead

I'm not crazy - institutionalized

You're the one who's crazy - institutionalized

You're driving me crazy - institutionalized

They stuck me in an institution

Said it was the only solution

To give me the needed professional help

To protect me from the enemy, myself

What does it matter i'll probably get hit by a car anyway

Mom just give me a Pepsi please

Around 83-85, I was working in a warehouse and we had to take turns with the boom box, there was a mix tape with this tune on it.

This was on the tape too:

Bitchin' Camaro

Rod - Hey Jack, what's happenin'?

Joe - Oh, I don't know.

Rod - Well, rumor around town says you think you might be heading down to the shore.

Joe - Uh, yeah, I think I'm goin' down to the shore.

Rod - Whatcha gonna do down there?

Joe - Uh, I don't know, play some video games, buy some Def Leppard t-shirts.

Rod - Hey, don't forget to get your Motley Crue t-shirt, y'know, all proceeds go to get their lead singer out of jail.

Joe - Uh huh.

Rod - Hey, you gonna check out the Sandbar while you're there?

Joe - Uh, what's the Sandbar?

Rod - Oh, it's this place that lets sixteen year-old kids drink.

Joe - Oh, cool.

Rod - Y'know who's gonna be there?

Joe - Uh, who?

Rod - My favorite cover band, Crystal Shit.

Joe - Oh.

Rod - Yeah, they do a Doors show, you'd be really impressed, in fact, it goes a little like this:

Love me two times baby

Love me twice today

Love me two times girl

Cause I got AIDS

Love me two times baby, once for tomorrow, once cause I got AIDS

Joe - Wow, Pretty good Jim Morrison impersonation there.

Rod - Yeah, I hope those guys have a good sense of humor and don't take us to court.

Joe - Uh, what's the court?

Rod - Never mind that,

Joe - Oh, you mean like the People's Court?

Rod - Well, that's another story; the important thing here is you gotta ask me how I'm gonna get down to the shore.

Joe - Uh, how you gonna get down to the shore?

Rod - Funny you should ask, I've got a car now.

Joe - Oh wow, how'd you get a car?

Rod - Oh my parents drove it up here from the Bahamas.

Joe - You're kidding!

Rod - I must be, the Bahamas are islands, okay, the important thing now, is that you ask me what kind of car I have.

Joe - Uh, what kinda car do ya' got?

Rod - I've got a BITCHIN CAMARO!

BITCHIN CAMARO, BITCHIN CAMARO

I ran over my neighbors

BITCHIN CAMARAO, BITCHIN CAMARO

Now it's in all the papers.

My folks bought me a BITCHIN CAMARO with no insurance to match;

So if you happen to run me down, please don't leave a scratch.

I ran over some old lady one night at the county fair;

And I didn't get arrested, because my dad's the mayor.

BITCHIN CAMARO, BITCHIN CAMARO

Doughnuts on your lawn

BITCHIN CAMARO, BITCHIN CAMARO

Tony Orlando and Dawn

When I drive past the kids, they all spit and cuss,

Because I've got a BITCHIN CAMARO and they have to ride the bus.

So you'd better get out of my way, when I run through your yard;

Because I've got a BITCHIN CAMARO;

And an Exxon credit card.

BITCHIN CAMARO, BITCHIN CAMARO

Hey, man where ya headed?

BITCHIN CAMARO, BITCHIN CAMARO

I drive on unleaded.

I remember working in warehouses also. I sure don't miss that.

It was the last one I worked in before getting into computers and into an office.

*Looks up from computer around warehouse.*

Hey, you're on a computer!

That's WAY different. :tup

I was driving a forklift and smoking a lot of cigarettes.

My lungs sure don't miss those days.

That kid just needs a couple of fishing trips to Minnesota.........he'll be okay.

Yeah, my dad thought the same about me...only, Minnesota was a stopping point before

going on to "Lake of the Woods" in Kenora, Ontario.

His poor "wayward" child of eastern religions needed a dose of hunting and fishing.

ACK!

No, that's reserved for you for failing to fall head over heels for Niehaus' 'I Remember You'. ;)

The kid gets to hang in the boat w/me on a little lake in Lutsen that Aggie87 has been secretly stocking for me.

'Sonny, my lure's snagged on that submerged log 'bout five feet down...be a good lad and unhook it for 'ol Uncle Weiz, would ya...' B-)
