Kari S Posted May 22, 2009 Report Posted May 22, 2009 Perhaps the worst cover, but my favorite Classic ... Bruce "Vibrato" Dickinson is definitely an acquired taste though. From 80's metal singers, I much prefer Dio who sings much clearer (cleaner?). Quote
AndrewHill Posted May 23, 2009 Report Posted May 23, 2009 Saw them on the Somewhere in Time tour and Powerslave is my favorite Maiden disk. I had back in 1984, the "The Trooper" Maiden jersey from the Piece of Mind tour; wore that shirt into the ground! Quote
Shawn Posted March 14, 2012 Report Posted March 14, 2012 Spin some Maiden today I think it will! I've listened to more Iron Maiden in the past 6 months that I did in the 6 years prior, for some reason they are really "clicking" with me again. I've been concentrating more on their recent albums. While not really even remotely "metal" anymore, they do play intelligent prog-fused heavy rock and sound like nobody but themselves. They are heading out on the "Maiden England" tour this year, performing a variation of the setlist they performed on the 1988 "Seventh Son" tour, should be fun! Quote
Shawn Posted March 22, 2012 Report Posted March 22, 2012 Happy 30th Anniversary to Iron Maiden's "The Number Of The Beast". Released March 22nd, 1982. Lp Cover: Single cover: LP Center (side one) (the hole is inside Eddie's mouth) Quote

Shawn Posted August 19, 2012 Report Posted August 19, 2012 A different kind of "cover". Iron Maiden does some of the best cover versions around, here is one of my all-time favorites... Jethro Tull's Cross-Eyed Mary. This is from 1983 and was the b-side to the The Trooper single. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zdqx3XIwxsc Quote
Soulstation1 Posted July 4, 2013 Author Report Posted July 4, 2013 Spin some Maiden today Watching some videos on YouTube Quote

Currently only available (legally) in the Eddie's Archive box set, which is ridiculously expensive. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted July 6, 2013 Author Report Posted July 6, 2013 Here's a new one for SS1: Not as cool as the Derek Riggs art. I would recommend the Flight 666 DVD Listening to Run to the hills. (Top 10 IM song) Quote
Scott Dolan Posted July 6, 2013 Report Posted July 6, 2013 Wow, how did I miss this thread throughout the years? Dug Maiden quite a bit through Somewhere In Time. They really lost me on Seventh Son. That album just struck me as incredibly tedious and not well-written. Live After Death is the most essential document they ever released, but Piece of Mind and Powerslave were my favorite studio albums. Didn't favor either DiAnno or Dickinson, thought both were excellent. But I understand the inevitable Bonn Scott vs. Brian Johnson argument that always takes place in those kinds of circumstances. Soulstation1 Posted July 16, 2013 Author Report Posted July 16, 2013 Anyone try IM's new English brew called The Trooper? I bet it packs a punch............... Quote
