Randy Twizzle Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 He didn't say any more, but we've always been unusually communicative in a reserved way, and I understood that he meant a great deal more than that. In consequence, I'm inclined to reserve all judgments, a habit that has opened up many curious natures to me and also made me the victim of not a few veteran bores. Quote
maren Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 I'm trying to figure out what overall kind of music this person goes for. Bon Jovi, Kenny G., Harry Connick, Elvis.... what an assortment. Maybe she's selling things given as presents by clueless friends and family??? In the light of Randy Twizzle's comment above, let me clarify: "family and friends who were clueless about her preferences..." Quote
Jazzmoose Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 In my younger and more vulnerable years my father gave me some advice that I've been turning over in my mind ever since. "Whenever you feel like criticizing any one," he told me, "just remember that all the people in this world haven't had the advantages that you've had." My dad said something similar, although the second part was "remember you're an obnoxious little prick, and no one wants to hear it." Okay, maybe that's not so similar... Quote
Randy Twizzle Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 And, after boasting this way of my tolerance, I come to the admission that it has a limit. Conduct may be founded on the hard rock or the wet marshes, but after a certain point I don't care what it's founded on. Quote
couw Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 my father used to tell me not to take other people's opinions too seriously, which amounts to the same thing once you learn the finesses of self reflection. Well, not quite of course. But it did teach me to take a second shot at any opinion. Quote
Randy Twizzle Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 I have feigned sleep, preoccupation, or a hostile levity when I realized by some unmistakable sign that an intimate revelation was quivering on the horizon; for the intimate revelations of young men, or at least the terms in which they express them, are usually plagiaristic and marred by obvious suppressions. maren Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 F. Scott Fitzgerald was a terrible speller !!! (When I learned that, I was shook up and came to recognize my own "perfect spelling" as a quirk, useful for landing a job as a proofreader, evidence of a strong visual memory, but not "intelligence" as I had previously believed...) For those of yoy who have never been in this situation I salute you. The thing about that ladies collection is believe it or not there are worse collections out there. Quote

Big Al Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 fess up i have journey's greatest hits cd Lying beside you, here in the dark Feeling your heart beat with mind Softly you whisper, you’re so sincere How could our live be so blind We sailed on together We drifted apart And here you are by my side So now I come to you, with open arms Nothing to hide, believe what I say So here I am with open arms Hoping you’ll see what your love means to me Open arms Living without you, living alone This empty house seems so cold Wanting to hold you, wanting you near How much I wanted you home But now that you’ve come back Turned night into day I need you to stay. i love you all, ss1 Dammit, the ONLY reason I don't book a flight to Phoenix to kick your ass for posting the words to that godawful song by that godawful group is because..... well, because........ It WAS featured prominently in a very... er, special scene in Heavy Metal that to this day I remember seeing as an impressionable 12-year-old and thinking, "DAMN, those guys can draw!!!!" (That, and I'd probably get my ass kicked before I even threw a punch!) Quote
Big Al Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 You guys are such music snobs!!! I notice that there are no Styx or Loverboy CDs on that list. 'Fess up -- which one of you guys bought them??? Would you just shut the fuck up already?!?!?!?! SHEESH!!!!! Quote

Soulstation1 Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 nobody has lyrics like the boyzz from journey It's been a mystery Still they try to see Why something good Can hurt so bad Caught on a one-way street The taste of bittersweet Love will survive somehow, someway (Chorus) One love feeds the fire One heart burns desire Wonder who's cryin' now Two hearts born to run Who'll be the lonely one Wonder who's cryin' now So many stormy nights So many wrong or rights Neither could change Their headstrong ways In a lover's rage They tore another page The fighting is worth The love they save (Chorus) One love feeds the fire One heart burns desire Wonder who's cryin' now Two hearts born to run Who'll be the lonely one Wonder who's cryin' now Only so many tears You can cry 'Til the heartache is over And now you can say Your love will never die Whooaa Oooh Whoooaa (Chorus) One love feeds the fire One heart burns desire Wonder who's cryin' now Two hearts born to run Who'll be the lonely one Wonder who's cryin' now Quote
Soulstation1 Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 Just a small town girl, livin' in a lonely world She took the midnight train goin' anywhere Just a city boy, born and raised in south Detroit He took the midnight train goin' anywhere A singer in a smokey room A smell of wine and cheap perfume For a smile they can share the night It goes on and on and on and on Strangers waiting, up and down the boulevard Their shadows searching in the night Streetlight people, living just to find emotion Hiding, somewhere in the night Working hard to get my fill, everybody wants a thrill Payin' anything to roll the dice, just one more time Some will win, some will lose Some were born to sing the blues Oh, the movie never ends It goes on and on and on and on (chorus) Don't stop believin' Hold on to the feelin' Streetlight people Quote
Soulstation1 Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 Here we stand Worlds apart, hearts broken in two, two, two Sleepless nights Losing ground I'm reaching for you, you, you Feelin' that it's gone Can change your mind If we can't go on To survive the tide love divides Someday love will find you Break those chains that bind you One night will remind you How we touched And went our separate ways If he ever hurts you True love won't desert you You know I still love you Though we touched And went our separate ways Troubled times Caught between confusions and pain, pain, pain Distant eyes Promises we made were in vain, in vain, in vain If you must go, I wish you love You'll never walk alone Take care my love Miss you love (chorus twice) I still love you girl I really love you girl And if he ever hurts you True love won't desert you No, No Quote

Big Al Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 ss1, yer KILLIN' me!!! I mean, you gotta post their masterpiece: “Chain Reaction!” Anyone remember the Journey video game? Always enjoyed playing that, and got pretty good at it, to the point that one night I kept a game going for so long at a Six Flags arcade they gave me two quarters to just walk away from the game I had going so they could lock up for the night!!! Then, as I started to really despise them, I would play the game just to kill them off! And when I got to the part with the bouncer trying to protect the band, I wouldn’t even try! It was enough of a pleasure to watch folks take away the band’s instruments! Yeah, it was worth the quarters spent! Quote
