Kalo Posted June 25, 2005 Report Posted June 25, 2005 Well, maybe a few things back there in the bottom cabinet drawer behind the Trilobite Records files. Quote
AllenLowe Posted July 5, 2005 Report Posted July 5, 2005 Chris - you really ought to publish a jazz scrapbook, along the lines of the Condon book- Quote
porcy62 Posted July 5, 2005 Report Posted July 5, 2005 I hadn't thought of that kind of book, Allen, but I am gathering together and writing bits and pieces of my life. Here's another one I came across yesterday. Moving forward 24 years, it's {as much as my scanner can capture in one round) the original poster-styled invitation and my membership card to Studio 54. I was there opening night--what an experience that was! Some friends of mine, including a then well-known prince and princess, wanted me to join them for champagne and ride to 54 in their stretch. I chose to go it alone and, guess what? I got in, they didn't--that limo couldn't even get near 54th Street. ← When will you show us your wardrobe? Quote
Noj Posted July 5, 2005 Report Posted July 5, 2005 Your great great Grandfather did some nice drawings, Chris! I love this thread, by the way. Thanks for sharing this cool stuff! Quote
Dan Gould Posted July 6, 2005 Report Posted July 6, 2005 Interesting, Chris, but can you elaborate on what this man was claiming upon his return from Hanoi? That the station was only reporting what LBJ wanted and that there was no way to win, blah blah blah? Quote
brownie Posted July 7, 2005 Report Posted July 7, 2005 ... I lent my original print to the Queens Museum of Art in 1994 and they never returned it. Hope they have not lost the original. This is a piece of jazz history! Thanks for showing it, Chris! Great and very interesting thread Please keep rumaging! Quote
Kalo Posted July 10, 2005 Report Posted July 10, 2005 Can I nominate this as the best thread on Organissimo forums? Quote
alankin Posted July 18, 2005 Report Posted July 18, 2005 I've been enjoying looking at what you've been finding. I still feel sad about Susannah. Quote
Spontooneous Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 Are the initials "JM" on the card in post #81 a clue?? (I love this thread.) Quote
jazzbo Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 Those are great Chris, thanks for posting them! I could almost have imagined that Lucky's card had come from Paul Desmond! Quote
brownie Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 Incredibly marvellous stuff! Many thanks for sharing with us! Quote
MartyJazz Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 Ditto. Great, great mementos. Thanks not only for cherishing them but for sharing them with us. Quote
montg Posted August 12, 2005 Report Posted August 12, 2005 Thank you for sharing these! Interesting to try and match the different jazz personalities with the Christmas cards they chose to send. Quote
Harold_Z Posted August 15, 2005 Report Posted August 15, 2005 Chris, That's one of my favorite stories in the book. It makes me laugh everytime I read it...really, I can just picture that whole scene. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted August 16, 2005 Report Posted August 16, 2005 Me too. Great to read it again. Quote
catesta Posted November 2, 2005 Report Posted November 2, 2005 Oh man, what a night that must have been. Quote
Aggie87 Posted November 21, 2005 Report Posted November 21, 2005 bump.... While doing a search on "celebrity squirrel" (don't even ask!), I came across this picture: p.s. - i wasn't sure where to post this, but thought it would fit here in Chris' thread... Quote
Noj Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 (edited) Up. This was my favorite of Christiern's threads. Sadly, the attachments are no longer active. Edited February 24, 2007 by Noj Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 Thanks for the effort Noj. Quote
J.A.W. Posted February 24, 2007 Report Posted February 24, 2007 Up. This was my favorite of Christiern's threads. Sadly, the attachments are no longer active. I take it Chris removed them before he left, or did they somehow "die"? Quote
mikeweil Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 Up. This was my favorite of Christiern's threads. Sadly, the attachments are no longer active. I take it Chris removed them before he left, or did they somehow "die"? I think they were lost in the one great board crash last year - many uploads were gone after that one. Quote
AllenLowe Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 I remember the jazz museum, actually went to a concert there when I was just a wee lad - Quote
