JSngry Posted March 5, 2005 Author Report Posted March 5, 2005 Should I have added brownies as a choice? Quote
Brownian Motion Posted March 5, 2005 Report Posted March 5, 2005 I prefer pie, but I can't have my pie and eat it too, so make mine cake. Quote
brownie Posted March 5, 2005 Report Posted March 5, 2005 Should I have added brownies as a choice? If I have to choose, I'll take cake. Anybody shares my passion for those Portuguese pastries? I try to stay away from that country just so to avoid gaining unneeded pounds Quote
Big Wheel Posted March 5, 2005 Report Posted March 5, 2005 (edited) Usually pie, if the crust is done right. Brownie, I love Portuguese pastries also (although I suspect we may not be talking about the same thing). There's a bakery nearby that has these wonderful sweet cheese-filled things. A little like a cannoli, but differently shaped and the filling is more custard-like than mascarpone... Edited March 5, 2005 by Big Wheel Quote
vibes Posted March 5, 2005 Report Posted March 5, 2005 I love pie, especially apple pie. Cheesecake is a close second for me, though. Quote
jazzbo Posted March 5, 2005 Report Posted March 5, 2005 Pie! Strawberry rhubarb! Blueberry! Pecan! Peach! Apple! Frito pie! Quote

Ron S Posted March 5, 2005 Report Posted March 5, 2005 Obviously, if you're really talented with a fork, you go for pie. Those more insecure about their forking ability and stamina, will go for the cake every time. Quote

Peter Johnson Posted March 5, 2005 Report Posted March 5, 2005 No forking question about it. Pie, man. _THINK_ about it. B-) Quote

makpjazz57 Posted March 5, 2005 Report Posted March 5, 2005 A friend once took me to a tiny storefront in Pasadena, CA that made killin' peach cobbler!!!! There was also a restaurant on Melrose Ave in L.A. called Linda's. Linda's had all of the best jazz musicians at her very "in" restaurant. Gerry Wiggins, Andy Simpkins, Ernie Andrews, Jimmy Rowles, Eric von Essen, etc. Linda's had the 2nd best (or perhaps right up there with the Pasadena store) peach cobbler ever of the non-homemade variety. Not too many jazz clubs have deeeliscious food (especially dessert). Then again, I haven't traveled all over the world, so perhaps I'm dead wrong! Marla Quote
Guest che Posted March 5, 2005 Report Posted March 5, 2005 Do' Black Puddings 'count as pies? Che. Quote
Guest che Posted March 5, 2005 Report Posted March 5, 2005 Vote your conscience! Ok 'Black Puddings' are pies and I cast my vote Here I am battered and brused, with a broken little finger on my right hand, after playing rugby today, and I just love the conversations on this board. It makes all the pain go away Che. Quote
Jim R Posted March 5, 2005 Report Posted March 5, 2005 There are a variety of pies that I like, and probably fewer varieties of cake that I like... but when it comes right down to it, a well-conceived and well-made chocolate cake (the extremely rich and unhealthy type) is going to stand out above anything else you may offer me. Cakes I don't like, my wife and kids love them, pies on the other hand are something special. Che. Quote
kulu se mama Posted March 5, 2005 Report Posted March 5, 2005 i forgot - boston cream pie is one of my all time favorites. does that count as a cake or a pie? Quote
JSngry Posted March 5, 2005 Author Report Posted March 5, 2005 It's the cake of pies. Or vice-versa. Again, vote your conscience! Quote
