ejp626 Posted July 9, 2005 Report Posted July 9, 2005 I'm going to have to clear out my queue, which is down to Mobley's Hi Voltage. I added Lewis/Jones Consummation (and am more than a little bummed they also have Central Park North, since I paid more this afternoon) and Peggy Lee's Black Coffee. Quote
jazzbo Posted July 10, 2005 Report Posted July 10, 2005 Shorter's "Allegria" shipped, so next up on my queue is Ornette's Skies of America. Quote
GA Russell Posted August 6, 2005 Author Report Posted August 6, 2005 I'm enjoying the Sade, although it's probably the least interesting of her albums. At the top of my queue are three hard bop classics, but I opened up Lee Morgan's Search for the New Land today, and I have two more Blue Note classics that I'll probably open up over the course of the next month, so I will probably get something this month from YourMusic that's not hard bop. I'm leaning toward Sam Cooke's Live at the Harlem Square Club, but I see that they also have Stephen Bishop's greatest hits album and I could be talked into that one as well. Quote
scottb Posted August 6, 2005 Report Posted August 6, 2005 Grant Green is up next for me. Where is Vol 1? My question is: How far are you queued up? I'm booked until December 2008! Quote
GA Russell Posted August 6, 2005 Author Report Posted August 6, 2005 Scott, including the two I added last night, one of which will go out Monday, I have 9 in my queue. I only juggle the top few. It's too much work to juggle a long queue! Quote
Quincy Posted August 6, 2005 Report Posted August 6, 2005 (edited) I only juggle the top few. It's too much work to juggle a long queue! ← I used to refrain from juggling much, but I discovered if you want to make #22 7th in your queue, it will sensibly place it there and reorder everything appropriately. For some reason I feared that if I put something in (for example) the 2nd slot without moving the current 2nd slotted disc the site would explode. Edited August 6, 2005 by Quincy Quote
Ron S Posted August 6, 2005 Report Posted August 6, 2005 Next up for me: I'm queued up through March 2008. I use the queue as sort of a wish list, and reshuffle occasionally to get what what most appeals to me at the moment up near the top. Quote

Guy Berger Posted August 7, 2005 Report Posted August 7, 2005 Next one on the queue is the Jazz Crusaders Lighthouse '68 CD -- if I like it I may pick up the Crusaders box. guy Quote
Son-of-a-Weizen Posted August 21, 2005 Report Posted August 21, 2005 Hill's 'Black Fire'..........then something from Blue Oyster Cult. Quote
Guy Berger Posted August 21, 2005 Report Posted August 21, 2005 Hill's 'Black Fire'..........then something from Blue Oyster Cult. ← Aside from a dangerous lack of cowbell, you're gonna dig Black Fire. I was listening to it a lot last week and it's goooooooood. Since they just shipped the Jazz Crusaders '68 Lighthouse, I think Brownie & Max at Basin Street is next. Guy Quote
Big Wheel Posted August 22, 2005 Report Posted August 22, 2005 (edited) I just signed up and put about 30 things in my queue. Next up: Kurt Rosenwinkel's Heartcore. Edited August 22, 2005 by Big Wheel Quote
GA Russell Posted September 9, 2005 Author Report Posted September 9, 2005 My next pick shipped yesterday: Stephen Bishop - On and On: The Hits of Stephen Bishop I decided to forgo hard bop one more month. I still haven't listened to the Sam Cooke from last month. I always like Bishop. I wonder what he has been doing for the past twenty years. Quote
Aggie87 Posted September 9, 2005 Report Posted September 9, 2005 Just shipped Radiohead's "Kid A". I had this but lost it somewhere during a move or a divorce or something Next up is Drew Gress' "7 Black Butterflies". Quote
Ron S Posted September 9, 2005 Report Posted September 9, 2005 My next is the Grant Green "Ballads" comp CD from Blue Note: I already have a boatload of Grant Green CD's, but figured it would be nice to have these sides on one disc for mellow listening times. Quote
jazzbo Posted September 9, 2005 Report Posted September 9, 2005 Ornette's "Skies of America" shipped. I have the vinyl of this, but it's not in great shape. Next up: Nancy Wilson, "Something Wonderful" Quote
Sundog Posted September 10, 2005 Report Posted September 10, 2005 Heard "Look Out Cleveland" the other day on the radio and couldn't resist the urge to replace my dirty old vinyl copy. Quote
jazzbo Posted September 10, 2005 Report Posted September 10, 2005 Good move! Cd sounds pretty good. .. despite McMaster! Quote
GregK Posted September 10, 2005 Report Posted September 10, 2005 Heard "Look Out Cleveland" the other day on the radio and couldn't resist the urge to replace my dirty old vinyl copy. ← this is a nice one, as it comes with some bonus songs and good liner notes Quote
gdogus Posted September 10, 2005 Report Posted September 10, 2005 (edited) Just shipped: David Bowie - The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars (Remastered) Next up: Charles Mingus - Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus Edited September 10, 2005 by gdogus Quote
Z-Man Posted September 10, 2005 Report Posted September 10, 2005 Next up: Ben Webster - Soulville Then two months of Duke - Piano In The Foreground and Blues In Orbit Quote
Big Wheel Posted September 12, 2005 Report Posted September 12, 2005 How often does Yourmusic update its inventory? In terms of jazz cds I've probably seen about 40-50 things I have real interest in buying, but once I get all that, the deal is going to be pretty uninteresting unless they acquire more selection. Not a bad place to pick up a bunch of non-jazz albums, though. Quote

At $6.00 a pop with free shipping, you're getting a great deal, and that ought to last you a while. Why complain if the well eventually runs dry? Get it while you can! Quote
Ron S Posted September 29, 2005 Report Posted September 29, 2005 Next up: BTW, I had "Blues In Orbit" scheduled for November, but got a note in my queue saying it might not be available by then. So it's on its way to me now. Quote
