Peter Posted January 5, 2008 Report Posted January 5, 2008 All the Miles boxes are gone from yourmusic. Has this happened before? Will they come back? Hoping for On the Corner! Quote
jazzbo Posted January 5, 2008 Report Posted January 5, 2008 All Columbia/CBS/Sony products are I think gone. I wouldn't expect them to come back myself. . . Quote
felser Posted January 7, 2008 Report Posted January 7, 2008 Next up for me is the reremastered 'Bridge of Sighs' by Robin Trower. Buying it for the bonus BBC cuts. Loved bassist James Dewar's singing with that group! Before that, he was in Stone the Crows, one of the most criminally underrated rock groups ever. Also included two greats, singer Maggie Bell and guitarist Les Harvey (who died of electrocution onstage). Quote
jazzbo Posted January 7, 2008 Report Posted January 7, 2008 Next up for me is "Comes A Time," Neil Young. Quote
Parkertown Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 Miles' "Lift to the Scaffold"...or whatever it's called. Quote
Peter Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 Just received the Ray Charles Complete Atlantic Recordings. Wasn't on my list, but at yourmusic prices, I couldn't pass it up. Quote
Tom 1960 Posted January 11, 2008 Report Posted January 11, 2008 In the next few days I should be receiving the Walter Davis, Jr. release "Davis Cup". Next month on my queue is Art Taylor's "A.T.'s Delight". At least for now. Quote
T.D. Posted January 11, 2008 Report Posted January 11, 2008 Should be getting Blue Mitchell "Boss Horn" in a few days. Just put Oliver Nelson "Blues and the Abstract Truth" at the head of the queue. Quote

Unfortunately, Baby Face Willette: Face To Face (Remastered) is no longer available and has been removed from your Music Queue. We're sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted January 14, 2008 Report Posted January 14, 2008 Received the same message for the new Dorham. They will be back in a couple of weeks. Quote
GA Russell Posted January 14, 2008 Author Report Posted January 14, 2008 Likewise, Maynard Ferguson - A Message from Birdland is no longer available. Quote
GA Russell Posted February 9, 2008 Author Report Posted February 9, 2008 I got my Maynard Ferguson Roulette last week, and it is great! Reminds me a lot of the Buddy Rich PJ band, but not as high strung. My pick this month is Stan Getz - Getz au Go-Go. Twenty years ago I found a selection of European (I think Italian) cassette tapes called Collections, and one that I picked up was the Stan Getz Collection. There were no liner notes, as was common with cassettes, but I think that all of Getz au Go-Go was included in it. But I don't think that the songs were presented in album order, or even consecutively. I'm not sure. As I recall, this was the first Getz album released after Getz/Gilberto, and after The Girl From Ipanema was a hit. I'm not sure about that either. Astrud sings on the bossa nova half of the album. Gary Burton is also on it. Quote
GA Russell Posted March 13, 2008 Author Report Posted March 13, 2008 My pick for this month is Hot Club of Detroit. A couple of years ago I got a Mack Avenue Christmas sampler called Jazz Yule Love II which included two songs by the band. They are young guys who are picking up on the style of Django Reinhardt and his friends. The two tracks I have are interesting and different, so I thought I would take a flyer on the album. Quote
GA Russell Posted April 11, 2008 Author Report Posted April 11, 2008 Each year when the weather turns warm, I break out my bossa nova and surf guitar albums. So I was happy to see a few weeks ago that BMG/Your Music is carrying something that I don't have (and as a matter of fact have never heard of): Sadao Watanabe - Bossa Nova '67 I've yet to hear a bossa nova album from the 60s that I haven't liked. Watanabe is another one of those musicians whose name I have read occasionally for years, but whom I have never heard. So I'm looking forward to checking this one out. Quote
