Party on Garth!

That seems to be a normal kind of reaction when people see it. But....it's a Gibson....and blues licks sound fan-damn-tastic.

Shawn,

What type of music do you usually play? I see you have varied interests. Are you into the Blues? or Prog? I'm just curious. :D

I have to admit... I've lusted after a Flying V in my time. Especially one of those Lonnie Mack models with the Bigsby.

So have I. I'd love to have one made of Korina.

I think I'd skip the Bigsby though. Not a big fan of the Bigsby, I flipped the first time I saw one on a Tele!

I like Bigsbys, but I can understand why people don't. :D I just love that shimmer you can get with them. My son hates when I use the Bigsby on my guitar. He hates the sound. He does like playing with the Bigsby (he's 3 1/2).

Heck, I'd go for a '58 Korina reissue V anyday. :D

Maybe even a regular ol' '67 reissue...

I remember seeing photos of the Kinks in 1967 with Dave Davies playing a Flying V. I've never thought of them as a metal-only guitar.

One of my teles has a Bigsby. I think it's really cool. The only weak part is the Jazzmaster bridge on it. It sucks tone. :(

Wow! That would light up a stage. :D

I couldn't take the weight of a doubleneck... ouch!

I tried a Gibson SG at Mannys once. The 6 string neck got in the way of playing the 12 string and was at a such a strange angle that I found it also unplayable.

That's good to know.

I had considered one of those Danelectro doublenecks from a few years ago. I figured they'd be a lot lighter than a Gibson style one.

My Morrell lap steel, $150 + what ever I paid for the DiMarzio Virtual Vintage pu.

NICE! :tup

I have a late fifties Electro (Rickenbacker) lap steel with legs.

In 1996 I did some shows with a couple of techno guys. They'd be doing their keyboards/sequencer/theremin stuff and I had my steel guitar going through looping delays, flanger, phaser, and other pedals. We got a great response at the shows we played and did a live performance for the college radio station. I wish I still had the tape, it was really cool. It was serious outer space music. :D

Possibly.

I heard a progrock band at the Knitting Factory a few years back and the guitar player had one of those. My guess is he just got it, because he had all sorts of harsh feedback from the cheesy pick ups.

Speaking of Danos, here's what normally hangs on the wall next to my desk.

And that's pretty much all it does.

That's too bad...

I've never played a longhorn. I love the look though. Is yours a Danelectro or a Jerry Jones? I couldn't tell. It's sweet though.

Here's a picture of my Danelectro:

I liked the reissues. I also had the U2 model, but I gave it to my sister.
