Jim Alfredson
Cool, Joe! A new axe to play with!!!
AfricaBrass
Congrats Joe! I hope you like it. Yeah, NOW he says he HOPES you like it, after setting the trap and pushing you in for the kill (with a little help from the rest of us). At least I know he's played that model... it always makes me nervous when I recommend something... I'd buy one of those...
Ron S
I'd buy one of those... Sure--everyone needs to have FORTY-TWO guitars.
AfricaBrass
I'd buy one of those... Sure--everyone needs to have FORTY-TWO guitars. I don't have that many... Ron, you asked about the SX basses earlier. Sorry about the late reply, they sell for just $110 (for a P-bass copy). They are made in China, but for the money they are a great deal. I'd say if a person buys one, to plan on getting it setup, and maybe upgrading the electronics, but beyond that they feel pretty good for such cheap basses. I like them better than Fender's budget line Squier basses which sell for almost twice as much.

But the question 7/4 and I were contemplating was how the Agiles compare in quality and finish to the SX basses--pay attention, son! (then again, with the people they'll let design those Agiles, maybe they aren't so good )

(then again, with the people they'll let design those Agiles, maybe they aren't so good ) I feel like that little chicken hawk after Foghorn Leghorn has given him a lecture. The Agiles IMO are much higher quality than the SX guitars. The Agiles are made in Korea vs. the SX's being made in China and seem to be made of better wood and hardware. I think everything about them is a step up over the SX's. That said, those SX Fender copies are a great bang for the buck guitar, especially for beginners, or people who like to change out electronics and do their own modifications. Ron S
Speaking of Agile guitars (SOMEONE'S gotta do it ) check out this unusual OOP acoustic/electric beauty on Ebay (I wonder if Jeff designed THIS baby while he was trippin'). scottb
My subliminal power of suggestion is working again! The bidders on EBAY have already met my reserve for the LES PAUL in the first day of bidding, while similar guitars sit without bids. Along with all the other Eq., they have a lot of basses and more fretless basses on the wall than anywhere else I've been. web page Call first! They're real close to both the NJ Turnpike and Rt.1 And don't go on a weekend. Too many kids playing Eruption or whatever... They had one of these that I wanted to check out a few weeks back, but the store was small and busy.
7/4
And it's fretless.
Ron S
Nice! Looks like it might come close to a double bass sound.
Ron S
Did you know they sell factory direct? And it looks like they're running a special--$100 off--here. Maybe we CAN get another guitar purchase on this thread tonight.

Maybe we CAN get another guitar purchase on this thread tonight. That's Carvin's trip: factory direct. It's kind of rare to find on in a shop. When I spent a week in Hollywood two years ago, I visited the retail store and tried out the Holdsworth Fat Boy. Amazing guitar.
Ron S
Here's a review which sort of confirms my hunch about the sound--looks like they even use nylon strings. I hope you get to try it out soon and report back--this could be a nice compromise between a regular electric bass and a double bass. My guess is that it sounds like a bass "guitar" with that pizeo snap from the bridge pickup. Just curious, that's all. Plus I'm on the look out for the right G&L ASAT.
