Jim Alfredson Posted March 4, 2005 Report Posted March 4, 2005 Dude, what the hell!??! I just zoomed in on that guy's sheet music on the organ in Photoshop!!! Check it out: Organissimo Sucks Jealousy... She asked him to play Young's Dream at the last gig. "Can you play Young's Dream complete with that amazing solo by Jim Alfredson?" Quote
keberobeats88 Posted March 5, 2005 Report Posted March 5, 2005 My last name is Hammond... Guess I better start learning to play organ. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 Oh my God, I just drooled all over my keyboard!!! What a beaut!!! Quote
Soulstation1 Posted March 8, 2005 Author Report Posted March 8, 2005 what is the name for the part that flips down over the keyboards? that been buggin' me ss1 Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 The fallboard. My B3 doesn't have one. Someone took it off before I found the organ. But that's okay. I like to put a synth on top, which is near impossible with the fallboard attached, so I'd probaly take it off anyway! Quote
.:.impossible Posted March 12, 2005 Report Posted March 12, 2005 Whoa! Not a Hammond I'm sure, but I think this goes hand and hand with the Soul Plane cockpit! Quote
Soulstation1 Posted March 16, 2005 Author Report Posted March 16, 2005 i jut heard "A Whiter Shade Of Pale" on pbs and the hammond was front and center on this song Quote
Soulstation1 Posted March 16, 2005 Author Report Posted March 16, 2005 ps all time worst story of having to move your hammond? ss1 Quote
Soul Stream Posted March 16, 2005 Report Posted March 16, 2005 ps all time worst story of having to move your hammond? ss1 Well, 2 personal worsts for me.... The first is when loading into the gig, my bandmate dropped the organ on my foot and dislocated 3 of my toes (yes, I still played the gig) and went to the emergency room afterwards. Ouch, they had to reset those bastards, and THAT hurts too. Second. I rented my organ out for a Jimmy Smith gig at a club I used to play at. No problem. Only in the meantime, the club changed locations and the new club was up 2 very rickety flights of narrow steps. THAT move was a biiiaaatch. (and yes, JOS still yelled at me about my sh*t organ, got it comin' AND goin' on that rental...ps. that was the last rental I ever did, turn them down now all the time). Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted March 16, 2005 Report Posted March 16, 2005 I've been very lucky moving the big beast. I remember once, last winter, the guitarist in my r&b band didn't listen to me and tried to pick up one end while we were getting it into the van and the thing came down backwards. He was trying to stop it and I was yelling at him, "Get out of the way!" It's just an instrument! The damn thing could kill you! No damage done to either man or beast. I guess my worse would be related to stupid injuries. I was playing an outdoor, afternoon gig with my r&b band one fine summer day and then had to jet out of there and get to another gig with the trio over an hour away. So I'm loading up my rig really fast and for some reason I jam my thumb onto the corner of the Leslie and it pulls the nail back. OUCH! The thing bleeds like crazy. We get to the other gig, I had no time to stop for band-aids or anything (this is my left-hand... bass playing hand) and I start playing and my thumb is bleeding all over the bottom manual as I play bass! Hurt like hell, too. But I got through it and got a lot of compliments from the crowd! Quote
Soul Stream Posted March 16, 2005 Report Posted March 16, 2005 ...just another thought...every time I move the hammond/leslie it's the worst. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted April 1, 2005 Author Report Posted April 1, 2005 you are aware of b3hammond.com? Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted April 12, 2005 Report Posted April 12, 2005 I have one not much younger. A 1939 or 1940 BCV. Quote
Jazz Kat Posted April 16, 2005 Report Posted April 16, 2005 This is the worst. I just bought a B-3, and was moving it into the club where I was doing the gig. Then as soon as I sat down at the thing to start warming up, I woke up from my dream, B-3-less!. Damn!!! That sucks! Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted August 6, 2005 Report Posted August 6, 2005 Ebony B3s are super-bad. I can only dream.... Quote
Soulstation1 Posted August 21, 2005 Author Report Posted August 21, 2005 good this be in any better shape Quote
