Question for traders/collectors of "unauthorized" music: If you think Kind of Blue is a classic recording, on which tunes does Jimmy Cobb play brushes? If you don't have a clue.................. No fair checking after the fact.

If you don't know, you need to experience the recordings you own.  If you are a "big" collector of "grey maket" stuff in this style, you need to examine your thought processes.

If I do know, can I now request some CD-Rs?

This seems to be a problem with many of us.  We don't appreciate all that we have to really undrestand it.  I think back in the early developing days of jazz where people didn't have as much disposable cash as now, they'd really study a recording, listening to it forwards and backwards and ask why is so and so doing what he's doing and how he's doing it.  I'm not sure we're thinking or doing about that kind of thing anymore.

....and in the developing days of jazz, they didn't have the ease or convenience at which to get said recordings. Everything that is available now can be bought at the click of a button!!!

.....we are spoiled rotten!!!

I must admit you do have a point about valuing what you have more. I get more jazz now than for a while and there is a cue. Mind you having an mp3 player to transport and listen makes a fair dent in the queue.

However no matter which you keep or not it is still my old favourite blue note recordings that make me sit back and pat my feet and smile when my favourite solos or licks are played.....always have done always will

In reality the offering/looking for section should give people the chance to let others know they have or need something without explicitly asking for cdrs. What people then do privately is up to them.

There is though something also nice about the ones that still elude you

Mine for instance

well that would be hypocritical here after what I wrote!
