king ubu
I can't see any photos! Big fan of Thomas! "Guitar Groove" is a fantastic disc - all those who're afraid Concord f*§#s Fantasy up, get that one! In addition to great guitar, there's some fantastic J.R. Monterose there, and good piano by unsung Hod O'Brien. Then add Tootie Heath and Teddy Kotick... need I say more? His Jazz in Paris discs are quite good as well, the one that came out first being slightly preferred here. The (great) Sacha Distel hors série Jazz in Paris 2CD set has that photo of Distel, Thomas and Raney, yes? A bunch of great plectrists! ubu

Jim R
Jim R and other guitarist members may be interested on this: http://thomasia.free.fr/music.php (I think it´s still a work-in-progress website, and some of the links don´t work) Thanks for posting this. I had seen that website some time ago, but much has been added since my last visit. There are many links that still don't work, but it's worth searching through the pages for the ones that are working. The "compositions" page, for example, is very interesting and informative. I've also enjoyed going through the discography carefully again and correcting my database where necessary. For many years I've thought of myself as a Thomas completeist, but there are always new discoveries. I also need to go through my privately-recorded tapes and compare the data with what's in the discography. It was really a treat to see these cover images (for the first time, in my case): and there may be others... I need to keep looking. Jim R
Ah yes, Gourley it was. My brain was having a nap, I think. Anyway, I have some Gourley and think he's pretty good, but generally he doesn't really do it for me (just a personal taste thing).
