couw Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 weren't those Lonnie Liston Smith disco jazz titles reissued by BMG some time ago? Quote
jazzbo Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 A number of titles have come out on cd over the last two decades, including a number from France. . . . Quote

Yup, and all of them were reissued twice, first in jewel cases (93 or so?) and later as part of the RCA Victor Gold Series (digipacks) or at least made up the same way as the Victor Gold series releases. Don't know how the remasters compare, have only old ones, so far (three Gatos and the Ornette). Those older ones were BMG/RCA releases. ubu Quote
JSngry Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 oliver nelsons came out too. Some, not all. Still waiting for somebody to get on the stick & get the REAL BLACK, BROWN, & BEAUTIFUL out. That one needs to be heard. Quote
DMP Posted February 25, 2005 Report Posted February 25, 2005 Harold Alexander's "Sunshine Man" is available, and so is the first Leon Thomas. Also, there are a couple of budget compilations - "Flying Groove," "Flying Funk," not sure of the titles. Quote
nemo7 Posted February 26, 2005 Report Posted February 26, 2005 Facets/The Legend of Leon Thomas would a most welcomed addition. Quote
brownie Posted February 26, 2005 Report Posted February 26, 2005 Can't wait for the reissue of Stanley Crouch's 'Ain't No Ambulances For No Nigghus Tonight' Quote
paul secor Posted February 26, 2005 Report Posted February 26, 2005 Don Cherry's 'Human Music' would make a cool reissue, though it would probably have a very limited audience. Quote
