RDK Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 Just heard about this upcoming show... http://www.mckenna.edu/news/aji/2004-2005/Spring/ Concerts are supposedly free. The other cats playing later in the month ain't too shabby either... Quote
Indestructible! Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 Hi Ray, Damn, thanks for pointing this out! Those three shows listed indeed look GREAT (Moncur Evolution Big Band, then Dewey Redman & Tim Hagens, then Andrew Cyrille & Ray Drummond)... I'm gonna hit all of these! I don't see any mention of prices - or even how to get tickets - for these shows. If they are indeed free, then I'm one happy man! I'll still drop my $$$ on the artists CD's at each show, of course, just to keep supportin'. Cheers, Shane Quote
Adam Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 They are free. Don't know about reserving. I'm planning on going to all three, but work will dictate whether I make the two that start at 6:45 pm. It's about a 45 minute drive from Claremont. Quote
RDK Posted February 24, 2005 Author Report Posted February 24, 2005 Up for air. And for anyone going to this show, maybe we can try to hook up... Quote
Adam Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 I didn't make it. But Dewey Redman tomorrow, and I am going to try. Anyone else? Quote
RDK Posted March 2, 2005 Author Report Posted March 2, 2005 If I can cut out of work by 5 or so... Quote
bertrand Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 A friend of mine went to the Grachan show - she said it was fabulous. Bertrand. Quote
Newk Posted March 4, 2005 Report Posted March 4, 2005 I made it and enjoyed it very much. Laid back big band versions of Moncurs music. Moncurs chops were pretty weak but the arrangments were great and it was a pleasure to see him. Benny Maupin was good and Peter Erskine really kept things tight. Quote
