Jazz Kat
Well be happy you got back on. The computer, just another piece of technology that addicts us, well me, and makes us go CRAZY!!!
Jazz Kat
Speaking of technology blues, we just bought another DVD player because it would always say, "no disc." Bought a 'good' one, and it said the same thing. So we bought a thrid one! Well no trouble yet, but was that really necessary. ONe other thing I have noticed, is as tv, vcrs, and dvd players get smaller, better, advanced etc. one thing keeps getting bigger and bigger: THE FRIKEN REMOTE. It's the size of a stapler! Kevin Bresnahan
There has been an increase in nasty trojan horse spyware infections around the globe. They are not your typical "virus" in that they install spyware until your machine crawls to a halt. They usually reinstall everything each time you re-boot too. I've found Microsoft's free anti-spyware program to be very good at removing these infections. It's worth a try here. Later, Kevin

wesbed
With my MacIntosh I haven't got any virus or spyware since I connected myself to internet more than 10 years ago. I get it. EDIT: Whoops. When I first read the above words, I though it said 'days' rather than 'years.' It was funnier when I thought it said 'days.' Now that I know it says 'years' it seems a little sad that Windows (and I'm a Windows user) can still be such a pain in the ass, at times, when compared to the Mac and Linux operating systems. I agree. That is, if I'm understanding your point correctly. The thing that has kept me away from Apple is the way-over-priced price tag (in my opinion). Also, as far as I know, I can't buy the parts to build my own Mac. On the other hand, I do believe, for those folks who have the computer blues all the time, the Mac may be a better way to go regardless of the price tag. Swinging Swede
Now that I know it says 'years' it seems a little sad that Windows (and I'm a Windows user) can still be such a pain in the ass, at times, when compared to the Mac and Linux operating systems. I'm not a Microsoft defender (and there may very well be flaws in the design of Windows in regard to safety aspects, where other environments have safer solutions), but still, one has to take into account the overwhelming market domination of Microsoft products. Virus (and other malware) writers want to make as big an impact as possible, so of course they are going to target Windows, Internet Explorer etc. If Macs (or Linux) had dominated the market and Windows only had a 10 % share or so, the situation would most probably look very different in that respect. I have this very same thought/idea when one of my computer friends will go on a Mac praising torrent. As if he was in an exclusive, members-only, computer club. porcy62
Well guys, if you prefer Windows for some reasons, stay with it. I just facetiously noted I did not have this kind of problems with my Mac. A discussion between Mac and MS believers could be harder than a political thread between Johnny E and The Groper

Jim Alfredson
Reliable compared to what? Macs have their problems too. The guy I do freelance video editing for just had his Mac G5 go belly up... not the harddrive, the actual machine itself. POOF! No more Mac. I like Macs, but they are just like any other computer and have problems.

Well one there virus threats are rare, two I have had several macs (currently have a G4 Powerbook) and have just ordered a 'new mini mac), I also have a PC laptop and a desktop, and I have never had any of the issues you mention. Now with the PC's there have been all kinds of trouble, crashes, virus attacks, dowloading one patch after another and so on. I would go with Mac's anyday. Che.
