Guest che Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 Hello Again. I am a big fan of the Dixie Chicks, well I only since they became involved in the fall-out from the Iraq war. So how good are they? Just another bunch of 'Gals from the South' or a major contribution to Country Muisc? Any thoughts? Che. Quote
Hardbopjazz Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 I have never heard anything by them. I know of them, but I find myself very bias with music. I guess they have a purpose. Quote

Well they sound great. And of course since they sang the song 'Travelin Soldier' they have become much more interesting to many people. Che. Quote
JSngry Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 They was more fun before Natalie took over. Quote
AllenLowe Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 they look good naked but are a little peppy for me - Quote
Big Al Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 They was more fun before Natalie took over. A-frickin-men. I'll bet the two sisters would agree as well. Quote
JSngry Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 I've been gigging with a guitar player who toured with them for a few years (before, during, and after the Bush flap), and the answer to the question "Will Success Spoil The Dixie Chicks" is apparently "yes". Hey, shit happens. Quote
JSngry Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 (edited) Neverthenonetheless, although Natalie is a bit, ahem, "shrill", the hit they took from the "Country Establishment" over the Bush thing was just plain bullshit. I hate having to come to the defense of those I don't really care for, but life's a bitch, and then you die, right? Consider the alternative... Edited February 16, 2005 by JSngry Quote
GregK Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 Thread topic question was "good or bad?" Bad. Very, very bad. Or maybe more accurately, boring. Very boring Quote
Guest che Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 Thread topic question was "good or bad?" Bad. Very, very bad. Or maybe more accurately, boring. Very boring Well some would say this is the stae of country music in general, 'bad' and one that appeals to a select few that have no musical taste Che. Quote
Free For All Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 Oh! Oh! I know this one!! ***BAD*** Quote
Guest che Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 Oh! Oh! I know this one!! ***BAD*** So could you say something more that 'Bad or Good' ? Che. Quote
Free For All Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 (edited) So could you say something more that 'Bad or Good' ? Che. I don't know, could you ASK something more than "Bad or Good"? Fre. How about "I don't like their music in particular or that genre in general." You obviously like them a lot, and that's great, but I hope you didn't come here (of all places) expecting everyone to agree with you. I do like other kinds of music than jazz, but I really don't like the Dixie Chicks. Edited February 16, 2005 by Free For All Quote
DTMX Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 I think Larry the Cable Guy said something like, "I like the Dixie Chicks, but that little fat one needs to keep her mouth shut." Quote

Jazzmoose Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 I'm not really up on the lastest in country music...I'm afraid I'm still stuck on Jimmie Rodgers, Bill Monroe and Hank Williams. To me 'modern country' is Johnny Cash... Quote
Use3D Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 Che asked: Dixie Chicks - 'Good or Bad?' You left out one option: Horrible Quote
johnlitweiler Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 After the Dixie Chicks' dust-up with Bush supporters, it seems something like my patriotic duty to appreciate their music. Quote

rachel Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 I think Larry the Cable Guy said something like, "I like the Dixie Chicks, but that little fat one needs to keep her mouth shut." Ok.... I can't help myself; I just see his name and I have to say it... 'Git-R-Done!!!' All-righty then... Quote
mjzee Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 I like country music, and watch CMT regularly (that is, until Cablevision recently took CMT off the lineup...DirecTV, here we come!). Natalie is a very good singer, and has great vocal chops. But I don't much like their outlook. It's not just that I'm pro-Bush. Have you heard their song, "Goodbye Earl"? Earl's a bad husband, so his wife is justified in killing him. It's a happy song! What an obnoxious outlook! So I don't care much for them, and change the channel when one of their videos comes on. JSngry Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 ANYWAY-- Tex-- the REAL Tex-- ya'll know how HEAVY Natalie's old man is, si? Si! Quote
Uncle Skid Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 Ok.... I can't help myself; I just see his name and I have to say it... 'Git-R-Done!!!' All-righty then... Somebody had to say it!! "I don’t care who you are, that’s funny right there…" Quote
