kulu se mama Posted March 13, 2003 Report Posted March 13, 2003 oscar treadwell (aka arthur pederson) was honored in cincinnati last night for his contributions to the world of jazz. oscar treadwell was a jazz disc jockey who's been honored by songs by charlie parker ("an oscar for treadwell" and thelonious monk "oska t.") the best part of all this - he has decided to donate his 6,000 jazz cd collection to the cincinnati public library. yipee! Chuck Nessa Posted March 13, 2003 Report Posted March 13, 2003 I've met Oscar, and he is indeed an American Jazz Treasure. BUT when Monk was asked about the title of his song, he said it was picked up in Japan. Whenever someone asked a promoter what Monk wanted, the response was "Oska T", which Monk translated as "Ask Thelonious". Quote
