take5 Posted February 15, 2005 Report Posted February 15, 2005 I am selling the complete Hot 5s and Hot 7s box set from Columbia. This is the "long-box" packaging. Box is opened but in near-mint condition. No scratches or scuffs or anything on the CDs or the packaging, just a bit of shelf wear on the corners. $20 Paypal. Email me at take5b@yahoo.com (no PMs, please) Quote
Jazzmoose Posted February 15, 2005 Report Posted February 15, 2005 A bargain and a must-have folks! Someone take advantage before he comes to his senses!!! Quote
gslade Posted February 15, 2005 Report Posted February 15, 2005 This was an expensive set (if i remember correctly $60) If anyone does not have it this is a great deal Quote
Harold_Z Posted February 15, 2005 Report Posted February 15, 2005 Yeah...if you don't have this material this is a good shot at it. I prefer the sound on this to even the JSP (and The JSP is great ). Quote
neveronfriday Posted February 15, 2005 Report Posted February 15, 2005 Love my set, but I was stupid enough to keep the CDs in the box anyway. Now I have all black stuff imprinted on two CDs. I was warned ... and didn't listen. Cheers! Quote
Jazzmoose Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 Don't do it! He'll want to trade you two $450 Nat King Cole sets!!! Quote
wesbed Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 $20 is a friggin' steal. Fuck me, fuck me, fuck me, fuck me, fuck me, fuck me fuck me. Fuck me again. Fuck. Quote
scottb Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 OK ALREADY, I'LL TAKE IT!!! You just won't let a man rest will ya? All day long, buy this, buy that, you need this , you must have that, worth the price of admission alone, great deal, essential, you'll never forgive yourself, do yourself a favor, can't live without it, everyone's got one. Worse than Satan himself! The tempting, the taunting, I can't take it! I don't know why I keep coming here! I'll take it but nobody tell my wife. Quote
Ron S Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 OK ALREADY, I'LL TAKE IT!!! I think he already sold it to Allen Lowe for $900. But Allen's only taking it so he can sell it on Ebay for $1500, so you'll have another shot at it. Quote
wesbed Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 If I remember correctly, I paid $60-plus for my Armstrong Columbia set. $20 is an absolute fucking steal. You gotta get it. Also, it has a kind of cloth outer covering on the box. It's really good at picking up dust. Quote
take5 Posted February 16, 2005 Author Report Posted February 16, 2005 I paid $60-plus for my Armstrong Columbia set. For just 4 CDs? Man, you have got to find better places to buy your box sets. I paid about 40, and since it's open, I cut the price in half, and always sell it cheaper on boards than on ebay too be nice. PS: since I have a lot of interested buyers, I can safely say that I'm selling this because I got the JSP set and the sound is so much superior. Quote
jazzbo Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 Ha, that's funny because I have both the JSP and the Columbia (and also the material on King Jazz!) I prefer the Columbia by a hair. It's fascinating how differently things sound to people. . . it's system related in part I'm pretty sure! Quote

jazzbo Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 That's true, things do sound differently here. . . shitty power I would guess. Quote

scottb Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 Yeah, but who hasn't thought that at least once for real? I wasn't kidding, I really don't need to be buying any more discs right now but an offer like this I feel like I can't pass up. In the mail / or coming soon: 3 disc in Weston Select from Christmas gift on back order 6 RVGs on the way 6 RVGs preordered for release in 2 weeks 4 discs from board member 1 disc from Half.com 1 disc from yourmusic.com and now possibly this set if I'm the lucky buyer I don't think I've had that many disc coming ever, even including BMG orders! Chuck Nessa Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 Does he play Hello Dolly and Wonderful World on this set? How many tracks is Ella on? Why the big price tag? Quote
wesbed Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 (edited) Does he play Hello Dolly and Wonderful World on this set? How many tracks is Ella on? Why the big price tag? The disks are in a nice box. The kind of box where, if you're not careful, you can scratch the hell out of the disks upon removal/replacement in the box. Sometimes, if you listen closely, you can hear the dust particles screaching against a CD as the CD slides in/out of the box. Oh, and the box says Columbia on it. scottb Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 If I haven't heard by now, does that mean you already sold the set. Can I get on with my life and my CD shopping? Quote
Jazzmoose Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 A typical Organissimo poster...moan and groan about spending too much on music, and if a deal falls through, the first thing you do is look for more music to buy... Quote

scottb Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 if a deal falls through, the first thing you do is look for more music to buy... You have to move on. Just pick up the pieces and take one purchase at a time. Quote
