Guest akanalog Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 not to hijack your thread, but why the #$@%# doesn't MPS put this george duke stuff out on CD! Quote
BFrank Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 I wondered about that, too. I seem to recall seeing some sort of collection of this stuff released in the last few years, though. (I could be wrong). Quote
Kari S Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 I wondered about that, too. I seem to recall seeing some sort of collection of this stuff released in the last few years, though. (I could be wrong). I don't think that the earlier stuff has been ever released officially on cd. There was one compilation called "Three Originals" (2cds) that has "The Aura Will Prevail" (MPS) from 1975 and two later Polygram releases. I've heard "Inner Source", though, and didn't find it too exciting. I much more prefer "Faces In Reflection" and "Feel". (You can find these as MP3s on the internet, if that's your thing.) Quote
Daniel A Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 (edited) Actually the "Three Originals" 2CD set was all MPS, it included: I Love the Blues, She Heard My Cry (MPS 15459), 1974 The Aura Will Prevail (MPS 15448), 1975 Liberated Fantasies (MPS 15474), 1976 Unfortunately, it has been OOP for some time. Someone's offering it on amazon for the ridiculous price of $236.99, but there are sound clips for those interested: * Link to amazon.com * Edited February 21, 2005 by Daniel A Quote
BFrank Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 Is that label still in business, actually? If not, who owns the music? I'm glad I grabbed the LPs when they came out. Quote
Daniel A Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 Is that label still in business, actually? If not, who owns the music? Universal does. There is some useful information in this thread at AAJ: http://forums.allaboutjazz.com/showthread.php?t=540 and possibly even in some older threads over here. Quote
