Nice and mellow but still gets your foot tappin'. I picked up a recent Japanese remaster of this date and the improvement over the old Portrait/Epic CD from the early 80's was very noticeable. AllenLowe Posted February 10, 2005 Report Share Posted February 10, 2005 I havent heard the Walter Bishop, but I must admit I find much of his later stuff a bit disjointed - it's funny, I worked with him for a few weeks in Hartford in the early 1990s (I think it was) - and at times he could really nail the bebop thing in a beautiful and deep way, at other times he was just a bit out of synch - another older musician lost in trying to sound "contemporary" - wonderful guy, though, and talking to him was the closest I ever got to Bud Powell - - Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Are these new ones K2s as well? If anyone owns one of these 41000 VICJ CDs, I'd like to hear whether there is any difference between them and the older VICJ 2000 series, except the price. Thanks. Seems a little odd that the new series would go from 4000. Still, my guess is with Hans — I'd think that this newly-priced series use the same remasters, but are simply in jewel cases instead. I wonder if it actually costs more to put out discs in cardboard sleeves? I wouldn't think so, but ... I don't think so either. If you order Venus cds from a Japanese outfit, the jewel boxes always run a few bucks more than the paper......but oddly enough, if you buy them here, the reverse is often the case.
