CJ Shearn Posted February 10, 2005 Report Posted February 10, 2005 I just ordered these three sets, the Gordon and Beirach/Leibman are sets I'm taking a chance on, I often enjoy live recordings as an intro to an artist. How are these sets? Quote
wesbed Posted February 10, 2005 Report Posted February 10, 2005 I don't own the Liebman Select (yet). The Chambers is good, dependable, Blue Note style jazz. If you like Blue Note, you'll like the Chambers. It includes several tracks with John Coltrane. How can you go wrong? I adore the Dexter Gordon Select. It's some of the best Dexter I've heard. I enjoy hearing jazz in a live setting. Dexter was good in the studio. I prefer live Dex. Quote
jlhoots Posted February 10, 2005 Report Posted February 10, 2005 The Gordon is great. I have all of the Chambers elsewhere, so didn't buy it. Mainly cool stuff. I'm not interested in the Liebman / Beirach. Just me, I guess. Quote
CJ Shearn Posted February 12, 2005 Author Report Posted February 12, 2005 got the Chambers and Gordon, cancelled the Liebman. disc 1 of the Chambers is pretty good stuff, especially "Whims of Chambers" Quote
