l p Posted February 9, 2005 Report Posted February 9, 2005 did he record with anyone in the 60's/70's. Quote
medjuck Posted February 9, 2005 Report Posted February 9, 2005 I have a cd by him at home. Have to wait till I get there to check the date. Man, I must have heard Nelson 100 times between '61 and '65. Played with the Charlie Biddil's (sp?) trio. They palyed as a guitar bass, drums trio but often backed visiting musicians too. I heard him with Art Farmer and Jackie MacClean amongst others. Can't remember the name of the drummer in the trio with whom I was quite friendly. Which makes me a jerk. Charlie somebody. Quote
EKE BBB Posted February 9, 2005 Report Posted February 9, 2005 Lord lists only this session: [H7536-4] Billy Horne The voice of Billy Horne: Billy Horne and his Combo: Billy Horne (p,vcl) Nelson Symonds (g) Charley Riddle (b) Charlie Duncan (d) Montreal, Canada, c. 1961 Secret love Plaza (Can)PL3303 Route 66 - It could happen to you - Quote
medjuck Posted February 10, 2005 Report Posted February 10, 2005 The cd I have was recorded in 1991. The correct spelling is Charlie Biddle (I've got a cd he recorded in '96 with appearances Oliver Jones, Wray Downes and Ranee Lee-- but not Nelson. I think Charlie Biddle died a couple of years ago and Charley Duncan previous to that.) Quote
l p Posted February 10, 2005 Author Report Posted February 10, 2005 evidently, wes montgomery and coltrane were very impressed. but there does not seem to be any documented music by him from those two decades. Quote
